Pre Game Thoughts

Reader Question

For those interested, I have been told the photo spread on the White Sox will be in the August 3 edition of ESPN The Magazine (which is the next one).  A photo editor there said the shots came out great and hoped the spread might be as many as seven pages.

AL Central

The American League Central has gone a combined 56-43 against American League East foes so far this year.  If, for the sake of argument, you want to limit the comparison to only the top three teams in each division, the East comes out at 31-27, while the Central is 34-21.  The Sox are 11-6, while Minnesota is 15-6.

Grinder Rules

Grinder Rule #5 … Every pitch is full count.  Every inning, the nintAj_1h.  Every game, game seven.

Grinder Rule #21 … Thieves will be punished.  Swiftly, harshly and repeatedly (accompanies this photo of AJ Pierzynski)

Grinder Rule #38 … You’re either counted on or counted out.

Grinder Rule #55 … It’s called stepping up to the plate for a reason.

Tonight’s Lineup

Pods, LF … Rowand, CF … Everett, DH … Konerko, 1B … Pierzynski, C … Dye, RF … Crede, 3B … Harris, 2B … Uribe, SS … Garcia, RHP.

Because I am completely bored at work, I found a little error on the White Sox website. There are two Grinder Rule #45’s. The first is “Respect the past, people who are shoeless, and anyone named Joe.” The second, “The best defense is a good win.” Yes, I am glad that I waste more time at work than any normal person should.

Scott, I have a suggestion for White Sox marketing. The City just repaved Halsted Street, installed new sidewalks, new street trees, and new old fashioned street lights. The street lights have arms for holding banners, currently empty. Why not make a gesture to the burgeoning neighborhood by putting White Sox banners on those posts between 31st and 35th Street? The Sox can only benefit from a better relationship with Bridgeport, especially as the neighborhood comes into its own.

Since you are so great at answering questions on this site :)! I was wondering maybe you knew why there are at least 10 cameramen and a number of sports reporters setting up for something outside of U.S. Cellular Field?

To add onto that…about 4PM on Tuesday.

sounds interesting
