White Sox Lineup

Pods, LF … Iguchi, 2B … Rowand, CF … Konerko, 1B … Dye, RF … Everett, DH … AJ, C … Crede, 3B … Uribe, SS … Buehrle, LHP.

Bears Fan

Aaron Rowand was decked out in Bears apparel before the game.  With batting practice cancelled because of the rain (players hit under the stands in our cages), guys sat and watched the Bears/Bengals game.  Rowand lives and dies with the Bears.

The team leaves after today’s game for Detroit.

Thanks, John

John Rooney calls his final regular season home game today and will throw out the ceremonial first pitch before today’s game.  We will miss his voice on Sox games …

At The Gate

With last night’s sellout (18th of the season), we have drawn 2,312,431 fans for 79 dates, the fourth-highest total in franchise history.  Thanks, Sox fans, for all your support in 2005.

Moving Up

With 93 victories, this year’s White Sox team is tied for 12th-most in franchise history.  Five teams won 94 games (last in 1993) and just five teams won 95 or more games.  The 1917 Sox team, the city’s last baseball World Champions, is the only one to reach the century mark with a 100-54 mark.

scott if it wasnt for ur new broadcasting partner for 06 john would still be here. there a horrible station, with horrible talent. i can tell u i will not be listning to games on the radio. you guys lets the snore drop the ball. i hope u enjoy 5 years of **** on 670. espn1000 is a better station all around from talent to producers.

Don’t listen to the games any more then, go to the games instead! It is just that simple.

Cleveland’s already winning their game. The Sox don’t seem to be playing well with pressure these days. Hope having to win just to stay ahead of the tribe wont prove to be too much for them. My confidence is fading daily. I’m begging you guys. Have some heart, go out and win this game!

What was that meemunk? I can’t hear you with your foot in your mouth.

Congratulations to all the sox fans that gave up on the team after Thursday night’s loss to Minnesota. You really are living proof that the sox have one of the worst fan bases in baseball. If you can’t get behind a team that was originally picked to finish 3rd in the division and then goes on to win ~95 games, i’m not quite sure what the Sox could have done to keep you on their side.

“But they played .500 ball for the last 2 months of the season. They ****!”

If the Sox would have played .600 ball over the last 2 months of the season, they probably would have won 120 games. Can you really get mad at a team for not doing something that no team in baseball has ever done? No team in the history of baseball has played .700+ ball for an entire season. Don’t think of it as choking, think of it as the market correcting itself. Fair weather fans ****.

I don’t think anyone cares how many games they win as long as they make it to the playoffs. I wouldn’t get too cocky willie boy, the game ain’t over yet, and the post season ain’t in the bag yet either. I’ll be a fan my way, which is to accept nothing less than a world series win and you be a fan your way. I bet I been watching them lose a lot longer than you have.

Nobody’s more frustrated and angry with pessimistic Sox fans than I am, but I think it’s important to realize that it’s not about being a “bad fan base.” It’s about being from the South Side of Chicago, the most neglected part of the city, the most neglected people of the city. Just look at our media, most of the time they pretend we don’t exist. The White Sox have a working class fan base and working class people are too well attuned to disappointment. As a result, we’re fatalistic. We expect to lose. When things go well, we don’t believe it’ll hold up, we don’t believe it’s real. If you read Carl Sandburg or Nelson Algren, the voice of their writing is identical to the voice of White Sox fans. The White Sox haven’t won since 1917… well, neither has the working stiff on the South Side of Chicago.

A SOX WIN, and a Cleve loss- does life GET any better??

Great game- Buehrle pitched great, huge hit by Aaron and Pauly…I could go on and on…

Bottom line- yea baby!

thanks meemund for the excellant post, and for helping me understand my place in the world. i’ve been a fan since ’59 and as a kid, expected us to get back to the WS at any time. since that hasn’t happened, i got as jaded as the rest of chicago, i just didn’t know that this sort of “curse” could transend 1700 miles and 46 years. the only thing i don’t understand is the booing that has gotten us in a tizzy. if we are truly fatalistic, i would think we would have more class when the “enevitable” happens. i thank you again for the most revealing post i’ve read. go sox, kick some tiger butt, keep running. j.k. in tucson…out.

AHHHHH life is good!! Big thank you to KC for finally beating Cleveland… Here we go, now is the time to put those Cleveland fans out of their misery. Just happy to be a Sox fan right now…

The best starting rotation in the A.L. has shown their guts this week with the flag on the line! Gutsy batting order switches by Ozzie, too! Our defense has been flashing leather…and the sticks have been there with timely hitting! Now…the bullpen will get it back together (including Marte & Hermie) to take 3 out of 4 in Detroit, and 2 out of 3 in Cleveland! You can see it in our players’ faces…they believe it…me, too! GO SOX!

If the Sox can sweept the Tigers and take 2 out of 3 from the Indians it gets them home field advantage and 100 wins

You know….the bandwagon is nice and roomy since all those people got off last week :) Cool beverage, anyone?

Awesome game today Buehrle and the rest of the crew! The Sox WILL get it done this week – i know it! I don’t wanna hear any more ifs or whens – this is it! I know we’re going to get some help from the Devil Rays this week as well.

Alright, Time to restore order. It’s you all’s true favorite Indians Fan. The CommandoKilla. haha. Yeah, so we lost a game today. **** happens yet it is time to slightly put some pressure on the ol’ panic button. It’s nice to see that the Chisox actually put up a fight becausse for awhile there it looked like teams were beating an already dead horse. I mean as much as I am a die-hard indians fan. I also was getting tired of reading article after article about how this “historical” choke was underway when they were still ahead by four games. Now i realize that we still have a whole 8 games for you and 7 for us. I will just let you know that I am discarding my Indians hat for the rest of this week. My friend I am honoring the detroit tigers who will split the series with the Chisox having the Sox carry a 1 game lead into the final series with the Indians. We’ll see how things unfold. Regardless it’s gonna be a **** of a series. So until next weekend. Start a new losing streak. Cause **** it..we should be the central division champs…

thank you for your time..

Sincerely,

Commandokilla..

GO TRIBE

a apologize for all the **** in my thing..i didn’t know the H word was a bad word. I’m not really that bad of a guy you know…

Guys i found out the perfect way for Ozzie to deal with the starters check it out on http://www.sportspride.myblogsite.com

I feel like a genius.

Great to see us win and also to see the tribe lose. I was at the game friday and it was also a great game. I noticed that the 1901 and 1906 banners are not up. Anyone know why and if the team is plannin on putting them back up? It looks like the pole they were on was removed for that fundamentals place in left field.

There’s nothing wrong with admitting your nervous about the sox chances at this point. It doesn’t make you a fair weather fan. If I weren’t a true fan, I wouldn’t care if they win or lose. I’m just so tired of being an also ran. I want them to win it all. Nobody deserves it more than we do. The greatest city in the world deserves a world champion. A winning season and no division title isn’t good enough.

I was at the game today — great game. One thing that I don’t like is the booing of Carl. Yea, he is doing very bad and in a bad slump but everyone booing him wont help him or this team. If you don’t have anything positive to say, don’t say anything when he strikes out.

GREAT GREAT , A VERY GOO D AND GREAT DAY.. WE WON,, THE ******* TRIBE LOST, WHAT ELSE CAN WE ASK FOR ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON… THANK U GUYS FOR ALL THE GREAT JOB…AND TO THE FANS THAT BOOED EVERETTE TODAY, PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THE PLAYOFFS GAMES, BECAUSE U DON’T DESERVE OUR SOX…WHEN EVERETTE DOES WELL EVERYONE LOVES HIM BUT WHEN HE IS ON SLUMP THEY START BOOING HIM,,,THIS IS BS, BOOING WON’T HELP HIM BUT IT MAKES IT EVEN WORSE, BUT WHAT CAN I SAY, FANS NEED TO LEARN….WELL GOOD GAME TODAY AND I AM LOOKING FOR A SWEEP IN DETROID,, HOPEFULLY WE WILL SWEEP AND THE TRIBE WILL LOSE A GAME OR TWO AND WE WILL CLINCH BEFORE GOING TO CLEAVLAND,,, WELL GO SOX AND LETS SEE WHAT U GUYS ARE HIDING FOR US,,,,,LETS WIN GO SOX….

What an excellent victory!!! The staff is handling their business now, the bats seem to be alive, and the D is always there. I really like our chances against any team in the playoffs. Our staff is just as good, if not better, than any other team in the AL. It’s funny to see these Indian fans thinking they are going to the playoffs. Can’t wait to hear the commando guy in about a week. And when does everbody think that rehmers and kenwo will be back on the wagon?? Its’s great to be a Sox fan right now!!!

AHHH another day, and the warm feeling is still there. kr-trepac…I don’t want to let them back on…it’s comfy on the bandwagon…more room to stretch out =)

Hey, bigdog604 —

Who gave up? I finally went a game on Sat.

By the way, I don’t get to many games, so that Anderson-Uribe-Gload DP in the top of the 9th in Saturday’s win over the Twins’ was something I don’t ever recall seeing at the park. Did anyone see it on TV/video or replays? Was that a top-rate play or careless baserunning by Rodriguez induced by a communication breakdown between Rowand and Anderson followed by a couple of routine throws?

Struck me as a top-rate play. I was disappointed it wasn’t included in MLB.com’s highlights.

I will admit. I was down on he Sox. I didn’t give up but I was not very optomistic. I was down not because the lead was down or even because the Sox were losing but it was the way they were playing. The first game against MIN should have been a W. When they lost that game, my confidence took a hit.

But I now look at the next 7 games (really the next 4) with great optomism. The aliens have returned our starting pitchers and the whole team seems to be playing with confidence.

In the end, this past week may be the thing the Sox needed to propell them into the postseason with the kind of ‘mo’ that usually comes from the WC races.

No way the Jndjans are looking at the scoreboard to see how the WHITE Sox are doing. After today there could be a 3 WAY TIE for the WC. They have there work cut out for them and TB is no gimme.

dbrusa – I’ll take a tall glass of kool-aid!

OK
Here is my attempt at October math:

NY is 91/64

Boston is 91/64

Indians are 92/64

Sox are 94/61

As it stands we have a 3 game lead in the loss column on everyone in contention.

In order to lock in a playoff spot, here is the worse case scenario –

NY/Boston win 6/7

The other team in that division (NY or Boston) goes 5/7

Indians run the table and win the next 6.

If all of this happens, we need to win 3/7 and we are guaranteed a WC spot.

However, as long as Boston or New York lose one game in their next series’ we just need to win 2 to get a playoff spot. And so on….

Remeber, this is assuming that the Indians run the table.

So, I think the odds are with us.

I am cautiously optimistic and I can see the trees from the forest, but I am still holding my breath. As Buehrle stressed after the game – We gotta take care of business now!! Go Sox!

i scored some tickets for the sox indians in cleveland….just wondering if anyone knows or if anyone knows how i can find out what is the team hotel the sox stay at in cleve? thanks

Sunday was awesome…thank you Grady Sizemore! Saturday was pretty kool too…Cubs & Michigan lose while Sox & ND win, that’s quite a QUAD of a day. GO SOX and MSU SPARTANS!!!

quoting kenwo from Pregame Thursday, September 22, “excuse me while i go think about ozzie, rowand, jenks, dye, and stick my hand down my throat and vomit.”

why are you going to go see them in cleveland this week, won’t you get too sick to watch the game? Also, I was wondering if you saw the game on Friday because I didn’t? I heard a White Sox player hit a 3 run laser beam to win the game, which player was that?

Another quote from that day, “this is one pathetic team….how could they not score? its embarrasing. contreras on the bump tomorrow so thats a “W”. then we wont win until he pitches again.”

Maybe I’m wrong, but didn’t two other White Sox pitchers get “W’s” after Jose got his on Friday? Well it looks like we are ahead of your “White Sox fan” prediction of no wins until he pitches again.

All of the above is why you shouldn’t give up on the team while they are still in 1st place and in control of their own destiny.

Great series fellas, it made my weekend. Starting pitching was brilliant and timely hitting made a comeback. That’s the team I love to see, especially kicking Minnesota in their teeth (3 years of demons exorcised). Psheehan made a great point on today’s blog about the “bad fan base”. If you missed it read it again because it speaks volumes about South Side demographics and the subsequent “respect” that brings us. We’re in the home strecth baby! Make us proud and let’s leave our mark on Motown.

Hey,dbrusa…what’s that I don’t hear, what’s that I don’t see? Oh, yeah, the soundsd of zimmerman or rehmers eminating from cyberspace…All it takes is enough hitting and outstanding pitching from your starters, and presto,change-o, three wins in succession…All that has to happen now is to take three out of four from the Tiges and see if the D-Rays can manage to take two of three at the Jake…then that series over the weekend will be just for the exercise…Isn’t life grand when you can breathe again, fans? The food tastes better, the women are prettier and the Bears….well, two out of three isn’t bad…Just in closing for a brief moment, happy belated birthday to the proprietor of this page,Mr Reifert…hope that the performance of your alma mater at the horseshoe on Staurday didn’t take anything away, allthough I’m sure that you and the PR staff are very busy trying to figure out how to shoehorn all the media in to the Cell for LDS Game One…(see how optimistic I am?)

I gotta agree kr-trepac…It’s one thing to be disappointed when they play poorly, but to make the heated comments made by SOME on this board..then hear they are going to a game, is astounding. And there’s my cyber-brother Tomquaid….Love the optimism. Love the way things are looking on the south side. I have to admit, I’m going to let my 12 yr old daughter on the bandwagon..she’s only 12, and doesn’t really follow it much (although she has her favorite players), so I’m cutting her some slack. She even took one of my Sox bracelets to wear to school. Let’s take this one!! GO SOX!! -Dawn

Dawn, don’t worry about your daughter,12 years old is the perfect age to indoctrinate boys as well as girls into the passion for the White Sox.I hope, though, that you can communicate to her that the boys aren’t always going to do their best, and that when that happens, don’t take it to heart, like some people do…This is not homicide or anything else that serious,it’s just a game…
A message from your cyber-brother…..

White Sox management, specifically Brooks Boyer…please stop airing games on WCIU. The picture that they broadcast hastens bak to the days of rabbit ears on the set to watch the White Sox on Ch.44. Please, please do not put us through this pain any longer!!

Not to mention that anyone outside of Chicago cannot view the games on WCIU.

Tromals, WCIU does have a lousy signal, but it’s also the only way for people to see games if they don’t have cable. A lot of Sox fans aren’t rich. Maybe we should get WCIU to fix their signal.

Dawn, notice the bandwagon suddenly getting crowded again?

Kenwo, why do want to know their hotel in Cleveland? So you can cheer them up with your unflagging support?

Isn’t that ^^^^^^what WGN is for?

“scott if it wasnt for ur new broadcasting partner for 06 john would still be here. there a horrible station, with horrible talent. i can tell u i will not be listning to games on the radio. you guys lets the snore drop the ball. i hope u enjoy 5 years of **** on 670. espn1000 is a better station all around from talent to producers.”

Totally agree with ya… If they hire Mike “I’m a @$$-hole” North I will never listen to them on the radio again. I would feel real sorry for Farmio. But why the Score, Reifart?

No, Tribune-owned WGN is for promoting the Cubs. They broadcast the fewest number of Sox games necessary to cover up their corporate bias.

Jester, we heard you the first time.

From where I sit, the picture is so bad on WCIU, I’d rather catch it on the radio….it’s something out of the late 1950s. I’d be lost without CSN…really. As for the bandwagon..we’ll be checking IDs shortly, so if you’ve been on board the whole time, all is good..others, well…your ticket and ID may not be valid for future stops =)

hey guy who scored some tickets for the Sox, Tribe series. Which is going to be a sweep for the indians and they are going to win the division by one game. It’s going to be a glorious series. But anyway, back to hotels in Cleveland. No matter where you go your going to be bothered by Clevelan Fans. Yet, they are no ignorant and want to kill you and rob you like a yanks fan. So basically you are going to take your heckling. But, you are better getting a hotel outside of Cleveland but cleveland is a dirty dirty town. I know becausse i live like 45 minutes away. That’s just a little suggestion. Just sitting back now counting down until Chisox fold and fall to 2 games ahead of cleveland. Just setting up what’s going to be a deciding series in Cleveland. Where we sweep and pull of the impossible…

Your favorite indians fan,

Commandkilla

u guys want homefield advantage, is it gonna help? its the sox remember ;-)
