Put That on the Board

Congratulations, Sox fans, your team has won the American League Central Division title!

Sorry to not post until now, but after last night’s games, we immediately made plans to head to Detroit.  I flew over this morning with Ron Vesely, our team photographer, and we arrived at Comerica Park late morning.Konerkograb

What a relief … when Paul Konerko snagged that line drive, you could almost see the weight come off our shoulders.  Guys were pretty tame with their on-field celebrations, but once inside the clubhouse, they let loose.  Nothing beats unrestrained joy.  I hope you all shared those emotions with the team as you watched on television today.

Random thoughts from today:

Love the smell of champagne and cigars …

Freddy Garcia turned in another strong outing …

Congrats to PK for his 40th home run … you can’t find a better guy …

Congrats to Ozzie, who had a load lifted today …

So happy for Kenny, Ozzie and Jerry Reinsdorf …

So proud of the loud Sox fans who showed up in Detroit to support the team …

So impressed by how Bobby Jenks threw in the ninth inning …

So cool that White Sox front office staff and employees could watch the game at U.S. Cellular Field and hold an impromptu party to celebrate with the team in spirit …

Annoyed by all my "friends", who upon seeing me in the background on television today, called or emailed, advising me to wear a hat next time so the glare isn’t too strong …

So appreciative of all the calls, messages and emails from fans (some who areSoxcelebrate regular readers of this blog), friends, peers and others in the industry who left congratulatory thoughts …

So happy for our fans, both those who continued to support us all season, through the highs and lows, as well as those who were driven crazy by the stress.  We all should enjoy this …

It’s been a very long day, so I am going to go take a shower and wash off the sticky champaigne residue.

Congrats again Sox fans.  You are AL Central Division Champions and you earned it.

Scott-

After quite the celebration at ESPN Zone, I’m taking this oppurtunity to process it all.

Thank the GUYS for an amazing season, and for pulling through like we knew they would. Never a doubt- and real excited to see waht’s to come.

Thank YOU for this awesome blog- and for the connection it gave us all to OUR team!

Thanks to everyone who ever doubted our team, becasue it made us work that much harder.

And AJ said it best- now the fun really begins.

I’m proud to be a White Sox fan, and can’t WAIT to see the beating we dish out ’til we’re WORLD CHAMPS!

Congrats to all the Sox – especially Everett who really stepped up the past two days.

Has there been a date set to release standing room tickets for the ALDS games yet?

OH SORRY , I POSTED IT TWICE. SORRY,, GO SOX

Interview after interview repeated the same refrain, “Nobody picked us to get this far…”
This is a TEAM that took a great attitude into the season; faced adversity together and now – after leading wire-to-wire, goes into post season play as an even better team than when they started!

Pitching and defense win series play. The strongest aspects of this team have been pitching and defense, but now that they’ve overcome adversity together their strongest suit is HEART!

very great comment navylifer, i love it.. i beleive that every word u said is true, and yes we r all one family, because we all love each other, especially in hard times, like the last couple of weeks… well that is what i like about this team, we r a family… go sox, GO SOX. …MANAR ALBAROUDI

I have been a fan since birth. (born into a Sox family – my parents met on a blind date at the Original Comiskey!!!) I have to say this has been the best season ever for me – as a fan. Thanks to the players and Ozzie for an awesome season and thanks to my fellow Sox fans that never gave up. You ALL rock!

Good luck in the post season!!!!

Wow. I really can’t think of anything better to say right now than that. Its been a long second half of the season, no doubt, but yesterday made it all worth it. Let the post season begin!

A splitting headache from a hangover never felt so good. I still can’t believe it! I woke up still wearing my Buehrle jersey. What can I say team other than thank you. You don’t know how much character and poise you showed the world these last few weeks. With our backs up against the wall you never gave up the good fight. Now it’s finally time to think about the playoffs and the type of damage we can do there. Nobody is picking us to do squat. Let’s keep on shocking the “experts”. Let’s applaud the strong disposition of our coach Ozzie who in the darkest moments showed what leadership is all about. Let’s cheer the players for never saying die. And let’s celebrate as fans cause while nobody said this was going to be easy, who woulda envisioned it be so gut-wrenchingly strenous…right now I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m bursting over with pride right now. Let this be the magical year we’ve all been waiting for!

forgive us if we come out a little sluggish tonight Tribe, ya see in the midst of what you thought would be the biggest choke job, we wrapped up the division last night, and consequently had some celebrating to do. ha,ha! silence is not becoming of you commandokiller and rehmers. love to hear your thoughts on last night’s party!

The Sox have given us much joy this year. Thank you! Also, as we enter our final series, I just want to thank John Rooney; he is simply the best announcer in baseball. I feel like I’m loosing a friend. Thank you, John!

What a day yesterday huh?!?!? After work yesterday my Sox fan friends and I went out ot celebrate. Getting here to work this morning was a definite challenge. Yesterday’s feeling is still with me though. Can’t get the smile off my face.

Think the guys will be a little hungover today too??? I’d like to see them stick it to Cleveland and shut them up for good.

Scott, I have a birthday coming up…but I don’t think I could ask for anything more…well, not without being greedy. It’s been a great ride, and I can’t wait for the next phase!! -Dawn

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, Happy birthday, dear Dawn, Happy birthday to you. I think I know what the best present would be ,not only for you but for all of us…How about 14 more wins, three to close out the regular season, then the other 11 in,say, the next 14 games after that…After that, we can hold a belated birthday party for you with, say, 5 million of your closest personal friends(excluding those from Cub Nation—they wouldn’t come to begin with, but they STILL get nothing),25 players, a manager, coaching staff, general manager, owner and,of course, their PR chief…

it is great in all but in order to that it all we need to start to get more and more base hits when we need them because we are going to need them in the playoffs and i know that because of the last couple of game when we left men in scoring possion and in october we will need every run we can get.

Go Sox!!!!!!!!!

Congrats Scott and GO SOX!! This time we will break the Curse of the Black Sox by winning our first playoff series since 1917. The Sox have posted an incredible season. The only thing better would be 11 more wins in the post season. GO SOX GO!!!

Dear White Sox,

Great, you’re in the tournament. NOW WIN IT!

ANYTHING LESS THAN A WORLD SERIES APPEARANCE IS UTTER AND ABJECT FAILURE. go sox.

Who will we lose to in the post season?

I was born five months after the Sox lost to the Dodgers in the ’59 series. I have seen teams come and go, but this group has the best shot of all of them. PK, JC, AJ, MB, TI and of course Ozzie, thank you all very much for a great ride, no matter what happens (a true Sox fan). My only regret is that my grandfather did not live long enough to see this. He was 5 that last time the Sox won a WS. If I only get one a lifetime, I’m ready for mine this year.

WIN . . .

Lifetime Sox fan now living in Los Angeles by way of Nebraska. What a great season! I became a Sox fan through my dad who attended college in chicago and lived on the Southside in the early to mid 70′s. I love the Sox. Flew out to opening day in Chicago on a very cold April day last season. Every time they’re in LA or Anaheim, I’m there. I used to get into fights in elementary school with this kid who was a big cubs fan. In Nebraska, no pro baseball team, so a lot of Royals fans. I converted a lot of them to Sox fans though, and we’ve been following rooting for them every year. I have so much faith in this team and can’t wait until the playoffs. I am a diehard fan and so proud right now!!! If they’re in Anaheim, I will be there. Go Sox!

Tomquaid…thank you!! I’ll take it all =)
what is this??? ANYTHING LESS THAN A WORLD SERIES APPEARANCE IS UTTER AND ABJECT FAILURE. go sox. That doesn’t sound like a fan. I’d be happy with what they have so far…it’s a far cry from years past.

Dawn, just think of it this way…those people who want it all, now, and are not willing to wait are members of a club I don’t want to be involved with…that is, the dynasty club…the last known remnants of that club here was with the Bulls after the seond three-peat. The symptoms are that you begin to think it’s your God-given right to win everything, every year in perpetuity, without having to work for it…For further examplaes, see the Green Bay Packer Backers, the Boston Celtics, the New York Yankees, the Montreal Canadiens and the University of Notre Dame…what makes it sweeter for those of us who appreciate the little things is how painful their fall is,once they fall from glory, and how quickly they shut up when they hit bottom…Please teach that lesson as well to your daughter…it’s a valuable one to go through life with…

jayquincy….good to hear from an Angelino who has not been seduced by Vin Scully into “pulling up a chair and staying a while”….You mentioned in your post that there is no pro baseball team in Nebraska, so they had to root for the Royals…well, now what do the fans in the Cornhusker state do when there is no pro baseball team in Kansas City, at least not in the sense that they once had before their skid of skids? I’ve used this line before on this site, but I don’t believe you’ve read it.. It was a shame that the Royals had to cancel Fan Appreciation Day this year, but they did because the fan called and said he couldn’t make it to the game…If the boys make it to Anaheim, they’ll be stepping over the dead bodies of the **** Yankees, because Steinbrenner will have every single solitary member of the team, coaching staff and front office executed.
By the way, could you tell me what the reaction of the Orange County fan is to Mr Moreno’s marketing of the Halos as the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim? Here,we’ve been poking fun at that all season, calling them The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim,Orange County,Southern California, north of San Diego,a mile from Disneyland, US of A…In other words, it’s a joke….

Sox stink
. Go Twins Go Red Sox. Go!!!!! I’m a Cubs fan. Have we ever been rooted for by White Sox fans? No. So I’m gonna keep consistent with that. Go Devil Rays and whoever plays the White Sox for the rest of the season

I’m a friend of derw and he is just goofing around. he doesn’t really mean it.
