Today’s Lineup

Pods, LF; Cintron, SS; Thome, DH; PK, 1B; Dye, RF; AJ, C; Crede, 3B; Mackowiak, CF; Uribe, SS.  Javier Vazquez on the hill.

Working Out

Several guys, including manager Ozzie Guillen, were at the ballpark early today getting a workout in before the day started.

Only the Bulls

Many members of the Sox team are planning to take in tonight’s Bulls game against the Toronto Raptors at the UC.

Clean and Neat

The White Sox team rules say only that players should keep their hair and mustaches "clean and neat."

Add Neal Cotts and Freddy Garcia to the list of guys who will be cleaning up over the next couple of days.

Fans needing a trim or wanting to show their support for our newly-shorn guys can have their hair cut at Friday night’s game.  Great Clips, a Sox sponsor, is planning to have several stylists on the main concourse Friday.  Fans can get hair cuts in exchange for a donation to Chicago White Sox Charities and the Ronald McDonald House.

Scott, I just wanted to take a minute to thank you for this blog..again. Through the course of last year, I virtually made the acquaintance of another die-hard female Sox fan in Maria Wagener. Having never personally met Maria, imagine my delight and amazement when she emailed me last night and indicated that due to a trip out of town, she couldn’t use her tickets to today’s game, and offered them to me!! An incredibly generous offer that I certainly couldn’t pass up. Hope to actually meet her at the park sometime in the near future. I’m still just blown away and thrilled to have the opportunity to fill her seats with a couple of yelling and screaming fans!! A HUGE thank you to Maria! I’d like to award her the White Sox Fan O’ The Day Award!! -Dawn

One… Dawn, isn’t it great to see how nice Sox fans are? Maybe people will start to realize that the Southside is definitely a good place. Two… I am hoping that Joe, AJ, Freddy, and Neal do not start slacking, because Jerry and Kenny will be marked men! However, without the hair, maybe Joe and AJ will be able to run a little faster and Freddy will be throwing around 98. Ya never know.

That’s one of the cooler things I’ve read in a while. MariaWagener could have easily sold those tickets to some anonymous “fan” and made some money but instead she decided to give it to one of the biggest fans of the White Sox. Good form Maria, great gesture. It speaks volumes about the integrity of the White Sox fan.

I was very encouraged by Garland’s outing and look for much of the same rebound performance from Javier tonight. Pieces are really starting to collapse into place for the good guys.

This is a truly innnovative lineup… two shortstops and no second baseman. Just teasing you, Scott. As for clean and neat hair, the cubune watch has a pretty good take on how this whole haircut story developed from nothing:

I’m trying to talk him into writing about attendance, too. The attendance debate in this town doesn’t serve the fan, it serves the Tribune.

I’m going to the game today. Go Sox!

Patrick Sheehan

What a cheap way to bust up that no-hitter! As if I needed another reason to hate Dougie Alphabet. That was agonizing watching that ball stradle that line. @#*$%!
