Afteraction Report

Random, Incoherent Thoughts …

Well, now, that certainly was interesting …

A hugely pro-Sox crowd today, even more than Friday …

White Sox vs. Cubs is never dull …

Why does this stuff always happen to AJ …

That really did seem like a cheap shot …

If you notice, AJ ends up far from the fight action …

Brian Anderson scored some big time clubhouse points in defending a teammate …

As did Scott Podsednik …

Ozzie Guillen was very clear that there would be no retribution from the White Sox …

BA sent along his hopes that John Mabry was OK …

Oh, by the way, Tadahito Iguchi homered twice, including a grand slam, and drove in a career-high six runs …

When asked if he had ever seen this type of behavior in Japan, Iguchi replied, "sometimes" and smiled …

"Shame is that Freddy Garcia and Tadahito Iguchi will hardly be mentioned tomorrow," said Javier Vazquez.  "Everything will be about the fight" …

"You mean for the one inning I caught him," answered AJ to a question about how did Garcia look …

This might really help AJ’s Professional Wrestling career …

Wonder if Michael Barrett is interested in a cage match …

The White Sox reported no injuries from the melee …

Over two games and 18 innings, the Sox have allowed only one unearned run …

Tomorrow, we go for a sweep …

Go Sox …

All I can say is WOW! Poor misunderstood A.J. always in the middle of controversy! I think our boy might actually be innocent in this one though. It looked like he was going to get his helmet that flew off in the totally justified collision at the plate and Barret seemed to snap. Hasn’t that guy done that before? Lost in it is the fact that Freddy very quietly has thrown another win under his belt. I think he might be the most underrated pitcher on that staff. Here’s hoping we use the brooms tomorrow!!

Oh one more thing….does anyone know if TWIB will be replayed anytime/anywhere again. I missed the first half!

….and who everyone forgets about is TADAHITO IGUCHI!!! Grand slam and 2 run homer!! WOW

and they are replaying TWIB at 6 on CSN. I missed it too.

The atmosphere in that park today was….can’t even put it into words.

The comment that sticks out to me most following all of this actions….was Ozzie saying that this is really going to bring the clubhouse together, and seeing the way all the teammates stuck up for eachother spoke volumes about them- and I couldn’t agree more.

BA and Pods scored some serious points in my book (which you all know both already have a lot in my book)….

And through it all, lets not forget Freddy’s gem of a game, and Tadahitos unbelievable bat.

Just let it be known that I love my White Sox, and I stand behind each and everyone of them through everything!

Down here in Jacksonville Fl. the Sox game was not shown on Fox, instead we were stuck with the Yankee/Met game which really ***** for us White Sox fans. Watching the news reports and highlights my impression in the Sox hasn’t changed one bit . . . they are champions, play like champions, and act like champions while the dubs, I mean Cubs play, act, and look like losers. The impressions I’ve previously expressed about Brian Anderson were exemplified today by the way he stuck up for and tried to defend his teammate. Brian is a big leager headed for an outstanding career and I hope all Sox fans give him the support he needs and deserves. As for AJ, Scott, Tad, Freddie and the rest they are the best. This is going to be another fun year for all fans of our southside club. Go Sox.

p.s….

Scott- this was a spectacular post by the way. Have I mentioned you’re real good at this??

:)

Freddy better be careful or the media may start paying attention to him. We can’t have that now, can we? He is on a tear. I was nervous after his first 2 starts because of his lack of velocity but he has made a point that he has everything it takes to win this year. A.J. shouldn’t get any repremand for the fight. He did nothing but play hard-nosed ball and Barret couldn’t handle it. He was clearly frustrated that he is on the 2nd team of Chi-town!!
Don’t worry, one more Sox win and he can forget about his sad day here. Pods should fill the Weak-side spot for Da Bears. How ’bout that takedown????

And once again, back to Big Bry from center. Dmurphy5 was right. That guy will be a favorite of this city earlier than we expect. His solid play and solid right hook’s have made me a huge fan and he should have plenty more for us. Sweep them guys baby!!!!!

Great day to be a Sox fan…I have to say I’m real proud of our guys for what they did out there today; protecting their teammates, but not to the point where they become the aggressors and lose 5-10 games (except for maybe BA, but it’s good that he shows that much heart for his team early in his Sox career). And Barrett really did look like a fool out there…all that he showed today was that he can’t take the heat of being a big-league catcher. As soon as he’s involved in a hard-nosed, old school, man’s play, he’s gotta cry and punch somebody (like any bratty 3rd grader would react). Here’s to AJ, we’re behind him all the way.
Oh and I definitely agree with soxpride12, Scott does a great job with the blog. I love reading this thing every day.

By the way, who’s for putting names on the end of posts (nothing too personal, just a first name will do) so we don’t have to refer to people by their huge, number-filled email addresses…just a thought. I’ll try and start the trend…

Phil in Indiana

Was watching baseball tonight, and Buck Martinez said that it was just old fashioned baseball. Hes right, and AJ should not get suspended for anything. They may fine him just because it was a fight but he shouldn’t get suspended. AJ is a great player, and I thought of the reason he may of gotten thrown out. It could of been because he threw his hands up to encourge crowd support and to egg the crowd on. Not saying there is anything around with that, but just a thought. I agree with Phil about the name thing.

I think that this is a sure sign of the Cubs frustration at their inability to win.

Pods takedown was excellent. I think AJ is sure to get a fine but I think he had to get thrown out just to keep some peace in the game because who is to say another Cub player wouldn’t have treid to take him out if he had stayed

I hope my first post was interesting

Kelly in Worth

Kelly, good frist post! Welcome to the club! I really enjoyed Farmer’s call of the fight. He said “AJ got punched in the grill.” Let’s sweep those bums today!!

Do you think Brian Anderson gets to wear a college football jersey other than Florida now?

Gotta say..Way to go BA.. saw his teammate in trouble, and ran. Now, part of me says that you gotta think before acting, BUT that’s just showing the true team spirit…

I personally think AJ is getting close to Fisk as the best Sox catcher. He is my MVP of the Sox turnaround. Everyone who was comparing the collision with michelle “cheap-shot” barret with torri hunter/Josh Paul is unfair. I guess I am the only one who remembers that Josh Paul was a good 3 feet in FRONT of home plate which in base ball is an unwritten rule you are giving up the plate. That is why Josh was knocked so silly, he was not expecting to get hit. The White Sox should have gone ape-sh*t over that play but no one did a thing. AJ’s hit was clean, period.

Make that Jamie Burke, not Josh Paul.

First time blogger, long time reader. You guys amaze me! I love reading this blog everyday! However, there’s hardly ever a need for me to blog in as I would only be repeating the same thoughts as all of you. I swear sometimes you guys just take the words right out of my mouth and post them on this blog. Props to A.J.!!! I love his team spirit!! I just became a HUGE fan of BA and Scottie pods is on tough lil’ dude, alot tougher than I could have ever thought! Way to go team! Wish I was there!!! Can’t wait for tonight’s game. Let’s show those Cleveland fans how it should be done!!!
