Big Stick

Jim Thome was in the dugout just now watching our pitchers take batting practice.

"That had to feel good last night," I said to him.

"They all feel good," he said.  And smiled.

Scott, love to hear the little things, keep them coming. He eats this game up, and also the whole Thome family. The love of the game is not lost on all.

If there’s one professional ball player I’d love to have dinner with and sit and chat with for an hour, talk about the game, Thome’s the guy.

Last night had to feel good to Joey, too, winning such a tough game, with him at the helm.

Hopefully Jim can feel good a few more times over the next couple days!

I love what someone said about Thome, and how respected he is. I believe the line was… If there’s someone who doesn’t like Thome, there’s something wrong with them. I can’t recall, seeing anyone, in any sport who is so humble, so well liked and respected. And he looks so down-home, corn-fed; Like your favorite uncle. What a class act!

Anyone catch PTI today? Both Wilbon and Bob said in 5 years Ozzie will be out of Chicago! I see Ozzie as a Bobby Cox, where he is always with the White Sox. I would love to hear reactions to this because I was shocked this was being debated about. Does everyone in this country not realize how much Chicago stands by and loves Ozzie?

Flaws and all, I love Ozzie and what he’s done here. However, I’m learning rapidly that baseball is a business, and there are many factors which could lead to a change in management.

Yes but you are forgetting the most important thing, winning. Guys who win tend to stick around a long time. Anybody else think Ozzie is starting to resemble A.J. in the sense that if he’s not on your team you hate him, but if he is on your team you love him?

hi, guys, it’s been awhile since i last posted. what a bunch of heated arguments i’ve just finished reading. as i see it, somebody made a mistake as society sees it today and we collectively should distance ourselves from the culprit. it wouldn’t do to be associated with a miscreant, now would it. and now some are advocating getting rid of Ozzie? that solves a lot doesn’t it. when will the world wake up and realize that we are all human and to err is HUMAN. as Tuckers mentioned, punishment has been meted out, so lets get back to playing ball and STOP being so critical of everything we have no control of anyway!. i like the comment from the fan coming with three generations of family to sats. game. this is for them, whoever they are, whatever color they are, whatever political affiliation they adhere to, their religious beliefs, sexual orientation, and ages. baseball brings us together like no other sporting event, and to subject it to footnote status is reprehensible. drop the issue and play ball. that’s all folks, Go Sox, let’s get eight tonight and nine tomorrow ( something we didn’t do last year). j.k. still shaking my head in tucson over all the furor…..
