News & Notes

This is the first ever trip by the Rockies to US Cellular Field … the White Sox have been in first place 53 days this season … we are 7-3 so far in a stretch of 26 of 32 games at home … we enter tonight having won a season-high eight straight at home … we won 10 straight in 2006 … Carlos Quentin was selected by fans in an on-line vote as the “Major League Baseball Clutch Performer of the Month Presented by Pepsi” (say that three times quickly) for May … the Sox are 3-0 in interleague play, sweeping the Giants in May … at 20-9, the Sox own the third-best home winning percentage in the majors … the White Sox top the majors with a 3.36 ERA … our starters lead the majors with 42 quality starts and rank second with a 3.61 ERA.

Thanks, Fans

The Sox have now sold more than 2 million tickets for the 2008 seasons … this is just the 10th time in club history the team will top 2 million … this is the fourth straight year the Sox will top the 2 million mark (also done in 1990-93).

Adding my very best wishes for a Happy Father’s Day to all the dads in White Sox Universe! Hope you see lots of wins this weekend! – Peggy

That game , as many do, showed why the bull pen is such a key, rockies got the lead but could not hold it with their pen. Sox’s pen held the lead, win for Sox. Big hit for Uribe. I did not miss Thome, BA did fine. Point is a guy like BA might contribute more than Thome or Konkerko given enough playing time.

Sox’s number one pick will be playing sat. night in the CWS, U of Mianm vs Georgia.

U of Miami.

Nice come from behind win. For the 5th time this season the Sox rallied to win after trailing going into the 7th inning or later and in all five games they took the lead in the 7th inning.

Lucky number seven!

Keep in mind though the “offense” only managed six hits.

We’ll see what happens tomorrow night.

that was a good game. big clutch hit for my guy Uribe. i was glad to see him in the line up. alexei is a talent but some of the things he does annoy me. uribe is a smarter ballplayer. linebrink has been spectacular. i was going to kill jenks when he continued to try and pick off pods with 2 outs in the 9th. get the batter for goodness sakes. with two out don’t let the runner distract you. go get em 2nite!

Come on kenwo smart and Uribe don’t belong in the same sentence unless there is a “not” included. He’s a good defensive player, but that is it. However last night that at bat where he got the two RBI’s. Just maybe he has changed a bit since sitting for so long. Maybe he learned that he had better hit smarter. He’ll have to do it over and over again to prove it though.

Excellent performance for Thor (Matt Thornton), putting the hammer down in the 7th. Then Officer Linebrink came out and put the cuffs on the Rockies. Finally, Big Bad Bobby came out and made it exciting (as he is wont to do) before he fired those fastballs for the final out. WHAT A BULLPEN WE HAVE THIS YEAR!!

Great to see Uribe back in the lineup and making Ozzie look like a genius (smile). Congrats to Q for winning the clutch player for May award. (He can thank me for all those votes later.) GO SOX!!

The Colorado Rockies organization would very much like to thank whomever the sadist is in the MLB offices who gave them TWO trips to Chicago this season…They have not won on the North Side, not so far(just one game)on the South Side… They are petitioning the MLB offices to see if they can schedule a game at the United Center, so they can lose on the West Side… and then thank their lucky stars that there is no East Side…

The Rockies bullpen reminds me very much of a certain group that performed last season… No lead was safe with that motley crew(NO, not the rock group…), and the story is similar this year in Colorado…

As long as the first four hits were all solo HR’s last night, I was not concerned with Floyd’s performance… He certainly is not the same pitcher that he was with the Phils, or the same pitcher he was in ’07… The improvement is welcome, to say the least…

Mommy Mac, how about your friend BA?… Every ballpark in the AL should be disguised as either the Cell or Safeco…those are the only two ballparks he can hit ‘em out in… so it seems…

The boys are very fortunate to have the same opportunities that the denizens of Jurassic Park at Neverland have… to be able to kick the whoop-dee-doo out of the scrubs of the league…that is, the OTHER league…(SF, Colorado and the Pirates)… before convening at that location that shall go unnamed next weekend…

Too bad that Zambrano won’t be facing the boys next week…I was looking forward to seeing the Venezuelan rocket go off after things disintegrate behind him…like he did a week ago today in LA…

Is there any way that anybody knows of to make the wind blow out next week when the boys are at bat, and blow IN when the Flubs come up?…

Quick, somebody… get in touch with the crew at the HumpDump in Minneapolis to find out how the Twinkies do it…

I am not saying Uribe is a smart ballplayer. I am saying he is smarter than Ramirez. I found myself numerous times saying “what the hell is he doing?” the past couple of weeks. Of course Uribe is a veteran and Ramirez is not so that plays into it as well. anyway lets go get em tonight.

Mark,
The “offense” may have only had six hits but it was enough for the win.
