Well, you know the rest. Hopefully.

Sorry about the double post. I want to be like TQ, but couldn’t make it….. We need runs please… j.k.

One was good. But! I keep waiting for Paulie to break out. That was the perfect time and again he shook his head after grounding out to short.. Hold ‘em Gavin…. j.k.

that worked last inning, so how about another run now? go Sox… j.k.

Thanks Q! Almost JD! 5-0 lead….. More runs and more zeros for them please…. j.k.

O.K. Alright. One run and the umpire called strikes of good curve balls by Gavin….. So far so good, but we need more runs please………. j.k.

Hold ‘em Gavin. Hold ‘em Gavin. Hold ‘em Gavin……. Go White Sox… j.k.

Another 1/2 inning down. Good job Gavin. We need runs. Push these guys around. Make it hurt!… Go Sox…. j.k.

Is anyone enjoying jk’s play by play as much as I am?

Just a little more to go and I will have taken over our blog! I’m not meaning to, I just have easy access to the internet via mlb.tv. More zeros Gavin….. Go Sox,,, j.k.

Saw that coming…. Way to go Alexei!!!!! Thank you White Sox…. j.k.

Ooh! I just noticed your post Donna…. I gave it a good run though….. Yeah! Sox!…. j.k.

First time I’ve ever seen that. Strike out, passed ball into the stands….. Happy right now, keep mowing them down Gavin… j.k.

Two innings to go and we’re looking pretty good… I didn’t say that did I?…. Go Sox… j.k.

Great catch Swish….. I hope he’s o.k…. j.k.

Very good game by our Stopper. Thank you Gavin….. Ok Boys, four outs to go…. j.k.

Good job offense= 15 hits. Good job starting pitching=7 2/3 innings of 4 hit ball. Good job Q and A (Alexei)=7 rbi… = a White Sox winner (even though it’s the bottom of the ninth)… j.k.

18 out of 21 comments on the board. Very nice jk.

I’m hoping Bobby has no trouble closing out this 8-1 game.

So much for a 1-2-3.

Bobby’s ERA just rose from 1.76 to 2.17.

Oh well, White Sox WIN!!!!!!!

Finally! 1 1/2 games up again. Tomorrow can get us back to where we started Monday….. Go Sox… Have a good night everybody…..j.k.

Thanks scam…. That’s all folks… your turn… j.k.

Obvously a much needed win, those are nice when you get them.

There is W number one! Let’s get number two tomorrow!! GO SOX!!

That banter between Paulie and the guys in the dugout re: getting his 9th inning ball as a memento looked hilarious. Would love to know what they were saying.

Great win. Floyd looked stellar. Let’s even it up manana, and head to KC on a positive note.

good to see gavin with a solid performance. he was over due for a good outing. both gavin and the sox needed that.

let’s hope tomorrow we can get another and leave town the same way we came in……a little ‘MO’ going into KC won’t hurt either.

Absolutely huge win…mammoth like!

The Sox know they’ll be leaving Minnesota in first place. Gavin pitched well when his teammates really needed it.

After the way this series began, to get a split would be wonderous.

Mark Liptak

Huge win and the runs coming after two outs were also very impressive. While I have dogged Konerko, it was actually nice to see him smile for a change.

Thank you Gavin Floyd!!! That was exactly the type of performance we needed from a starting pitcher. Hopefully that will rub off on the rest of the staff. Now can Danks back it up tomorrow? A split would definitely give us some huge momentum as it looked pretty bleak after the game two loss. At this point in the season momentum is precious.

Of course Napolean Guillen was at it again tonight. The man just refuses to learn from history. How many times has Jenks come into a game in a non save situation and given up multiple runs. How many times will he have to do that before Guillen learns? Sure some will say he needed some work, but it just does not make sense when history says it won’t be good work that he gets. Why not leave Thornton in for the 9th. They had 3 lefties leading off the inning.

Was it me or did anyone else sense the Sox let up on them in the 8th. If Cox is aware that Gomez is practically playing Quentin on the warning track AJ would have scored easily, and sending Wise out to pinch hit for Thome when he was 2 for 3 already. What was the deal with that? Let Thome go out there and stomp on their damn throats. Not like they wouldn’t do it to us and enjoy it.

Good win tonight. Nice to be leaving Minnesota in first…hopefully 2.5 up. Gavin did a wonderful job. Hopefully that outing killed the trade rumors surrounding him. Went up to Rosemont for the National card show tonight…met Dan Pasqua among others. He wasn’t my favorite, but if he got a hold of it..look out. I believe he hit the first homer on the concourse of the Cell.

About the schedules….we had an easy run of it in June and while we didn’t totally piss it away we could have done better. So hopefully when Boston and NY come in we are hitting well….and hopefully Ichiro and Jose Lopez are hitting well when the M’s play the Twins.

I was listening to the post game on the radio and everyone kept saying “if konerko comes around the sox will put room between them and the twins” and “if konerko hits his defense will improve”…i just kept thinking after hearing all of these If’s……. If the Queen had balls she’d be the king.

Jim, you can’t just let a pitcher sit around and become stale until a save situation might arise. You have to give your closer some innings in a real game. I know it’s not the most ideal situation, but it is something you just have to do.

Scam, I know he has to pitch, but how many times do we have to see Guillen run him out there in a situation where history says he does not do well, and continue to not do well. It’s not going to help his confidence any when it does come to a tough save situation. I doubt Jenks will get stale, and I am sure they have ways to keep him fresh. If anything it can save his arm a bit for 2 inning saves if needed.

Being on the road your closer only pitches in save situations usually and having lost the last 3 he has not been out there. However he did pitch 3 of the previous 4 days, and in June he did go a number for 4 or 5 day stretches without pitching so not going for 4 days is nothing new for him.

At some point after getting a concussion every time you bang your head against the brick wall, you have to stop banging your head against that wall right?

Oh, and this is not just specific to Jenks. I notice it more with him because I watch every Sox game, but it is something that happens to most closers. So it is not just Sox history, but pretty much baseball history that Guillen refuses to take a lesson from. You would think they closer would be able to go out there feel no pressure and just fire away, but they obviously have some kind of mental hiccup in these situations.

Ok gang, my son just called me at work to tell me we are getting Griffey Jr….anyone hear anything on this???

Yea they are talking about it on Mike and Mike on ESPN. They arent saying who we gave up for him though.

We needed relief pitching, not another outfielder!

So Griffey is coming to the Sox? At 36, does he still have the wheels for CF? I guess KW ran out of patience with PK. At best, he platoons with Swish at 1B letting Ozzie put the hot bat on the field, if there is such a thing. If this goes through, PK will be traded either today or after the season is over.

My guess is the Reds get BA in exchange. At least BA will get to play everyday.

Well KW has been trying to get Jr since 2005… It would be nice to put him at DH

I’ve always liked Griffey….kind of a crazy trade though. Don’t know if he can handle center anymore. But whatever as long as he can still stick it from the left side I am happy

Steve Stone speculating this is a setup for another trade…perhaps swish for street.

I wish they would get rid of pk and uribe. Griffey has always been my favorite player. Its just strange to see what they are going to do with him. Mike and Mike are having a very good discussion about this trade. Bringing up some good points.

I don’t see Griffey approving this deal if he is going to be a part time player so I think we have two possibilities.

1 – Griffey plays CF and Swisher moves to first to split time with Konerko. Personally not sure if he can still play CF, especially with a pretty slow JD at his side. That right-center gap could be huge.

2 – Griffey plays RF and Dye moves in to play 1B. This is something the Sox have been pondering since signing Dye before the 2005 season. However it would be real risky to make that move at this time of the season.

I was going to write (before the big news came out), that after watching the team play saturday and seeing them catch themselves before the fall, I’d have been fine watching them as is (or with some new relief pitching) for the remainder of the season (contrary to my standard bitching). However, nice to see a name like Griffey coming over and as far as how he’ll fit in, I guess that is anyone’s guess as no one really saw this one coming anyway.

How we’ll open up room between two older outfielders, a DH and two under performing younsters (Swish and PK) will be interesting to see. I just have to say, that regardless of all the complaining and counter-complaining that has gone on so far this season whether in the workplace, the ballpark or on this blog; I think it’s safe to say that: this team as it was and as it still might become has left us all pretty enthralled and as hyperkinetic as kids. I guess this means that the organization from Reinsdorf down to the players are doing one hell of a job. Don’t know how thing’s will pan out, but I can’t wait to see……
