Prior to today’s game, we announced that Jerry Owens had cleared waivers and has been outrighted to Class AAA Charlotte.
7 And 7
Following yesterday’s game, manager Ozzie Guillen announced that Mark Buehrle will start Monday’s Opening Day contest with the Royals, the seventh OD start of the lefty’s career, tying the great Billy Pierce for most in club history.
Buehrle is 2-1 with a 4.07 ERA in his OD starts (2002-06, 2008-09), including a two-hit shutout vs. Cleveland in 2005.
Pierce started openers in 1951, 52, 54, 56-59 and went 11.0 IP in a 3-2 win over Herb Score in 1957. Two other times Pierce went 9.0 IP to open a year. In his seven OD starts, Pierce was 4-3 with a 3.31 ERA.

From a design standpoint, the banner at the top of the main page is a little rough. Typographically, its good. The image could use a lot of work, though. Three different ideas, three different traditions. Simplify. The outfield wall is a strong place to start, IMO
Being compared in ANY way to the great Billy Pierce is the ultimate compliment for a White Sox player.

Mark Liptak
Well let’s see…in the past two days the Sox have a total of two runs on 18 hits with five errors.
Mid-season form to me!
Seriously, it’s the last week gang, it’s not March10th anymore. Instead of looking better they are looking worse.
Mark Liptak
He should have actually broken Mr. Pierce’s record this coming season. Ozzie picked Jose a couple years back and we all know how that start went for Jose.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Lip. Exactly how long ago was that interview done?
Almost time for it to count for the Boys. Go Sox….j.k.

The only thing in mid-season form already is Liptak’s negativity.
