Sox vs. Twins

Lineup

Getz 4, Fields 5, Q 7, Thome dh, Dye 9, PK 3, AJ 2, Ram 6, Wise 9.  Jose returns to the mound.

Joe Crede

As I was walking in from lunch, three Twins players climbed out of a cab and walked in Gate 4 with me.

“Is that Crede?” one asked.

“Yes,” I explained.  “Give him a hard time.  Tell him you thought Juan Uribe’s (behind) was more attractive on the monument.”

I saw Joe in the tunnel outside our clubhouse around 3:30 and got a chance to say hello and ask about the kids.

He looked good.  Hair was a little long, though.

In addition to a one minute video tribute before the game and what I assume will be a standing ovation from our crowd before his first at-bat, I am sure his friends in our clubhouse have some fun planned for tonight.  Then we need to beat the Twins three times.

A tribute to Joe is well deserved in my opinion.

This is an important early series…the back end of the rotation is going for the Sox (until shown otherwise they are a huge question mark), the offense has been basically non-existent and everyone remember what a poor start did to the Tigers chances in 2008.

Maybe this comment will help after Minnesota rallied to beat Seattle earlier in the week:

“It felt like we beat the White Sox,” Span said. “I was expecting champagne to be in the air when I got in the clubhouse, but it was only the first one of the season.”

Mark Liptak

Agreed. A Joe tribute is the right thing to do. As is the standing o he will receive. After that, 0 for the weekend will be fine from the glove man. Span would be wise to keep his billboard material to himself.

As much as I want to kill Joe Crede for signing with the Twins, I realize that it’s business we need to deal with at some times.

Wish I could be there to cheer on Joe tonight!

Crede homers in first at bat. How fitting. Big disappointment @ last night’s game. The geniuses @ SaraLee CLOSED Best’s Kosher! NO MORE BEST’S KOSHER @ THE CELL? BOYCOTT SARALEE!

Is there any chance that the Crede tribute could be made available online to those who didn’t attend the game? Please?

Ok, only game 4, but this feels painfully too familiar. We start to score runs, the bullpen fails. The pitching is good, the offense fails. How frustrating. Glad Joe got the love he deserved, but you’re killing me Joe!! Didn’t we know he would. And MacDougal….have we learned nothing?? UGH!!

Well…..

That was interesting wasn’t it boys and girls.

I may be wrong but I think (can someone please check this for me?) that Ol’ MacDougal (e-i-e-i-OH NO!) has faced four hitters this year AND EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM REACHED BASE.

He needs to go, period. End of discussion and I give a damn how much money he’s still owed. Kenny signed him to that three year deal and he now has to correct his mistake.

Liriano against Colon Saturday, odds don’t appear to be in the Sox favor. As D.J. would say…’uh-oh…’

Mark Liptak

One-hundred-fifty-eight games left. No need for major concern yet.

MacDougal made the club because he had a great spring, right? Sure, he pitched well in spring training games that — as I have said before — don’t mean a damn thing!!

He has been bad in games that count probably 90 percent of the time since coming to the Sox. He needs to go.

Crede pulled a “Frank Thomas” on us. Proof again that he hits best when the spotlight is on him.

But at least the Brewers’ ninth inning today gave us something to smile about.

I know everyone will give me crap for this but……I am happy for Joe! He looked good! And I am glad he hit that homer!!

Now…for Mac, Mac, give me a heart attack MacDougal, well…….enough said! Please get rid of him!!!!!!

Lets get those Twinkies Today!!!!!!!

I agree with you Jennifer… I am happy for Joe he looked GREAT and I wish him all the best in the remainder of his MLB career.

I can’t believe ANYONE would hope someone goes on the DL. That is just horrible to wish hurt or pain on another human being.

I’ll never forget what Joe did for this team. A lot of people were cheering for him even after that homer. I do wish he doesn’t do well when they play the Sox but I do wish him the best.

hey vteen – send me your email. As soon as I figure out how to upload movies from my camera I can forward you the tribute. it was awesome.

Jennifer
