The White Sox selected Jared Mitchell, an outfielder from LSU, with the 23rd pick of the first round in tonight’s MLB First-Year Player Draft. Mitchell, who the Sox had targeted, projects as a center fielder in the big leagues, and MLB Network analysis identified Mitchell as having the highest projection for a position player in the first round of this draft.
Sorry, I was late posting tonight — my daughter’s eighth-grade graduation got in the way — so I’ll skip the lineup. You likely already know that LHP Aaron Poreda was promoted from Class AA Birmingham in time for tonight’s game and Bartolo Colon was placed on the disabled list.
