Thanks

Special thanks to White Sox ace Billy Pierce for coming in to the ballpark early today to take part in news coverage of Opening Day.  Always class.

Comcast Sports Net

Will be live at the ballpark today from noon to 1 pm with their pregame show.  Look for Frank Thomas and Kenny Williams on the hour-long show.

Wow

If you didn’t have a chance to watch WGN-TV’s “What it means to be a White Sox” last night, you have to find time to see it.  Great interviews.  Hard-to-find footage.  All credit goes to Bob Vorwald of WGN who spent two years collecting interviews and footage and creating the hour-long show and book (available from Triumph Books).

Good Morning

And happy Opening Day!  Early morning at USCF …

And so Chapter One of Volume 12 (decade), Book 110 (seasons) of “One Man’s White Sox” begins, as always, with the dedication, borrowed from Ernie Harwell, who used this every season on Opening Day for the Tigers…from “Song of Solomon” 2:11-12…
“For lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone;the flowers appear on the earth;the time of the singing of the birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land.”…
As to last night, that was an OUTSTANDING presentation, which brought back some very pleasant memories of seasons gone by…
I hope that the next SEVEN months (INCLUDING October- – LATE October, that is…) bring the same kind of thrill ride that White Sox Universe enjoyed when this site was first brought up by Mr Reifert five years ago…
You folks remember what happened then, don’t you?

Hello all – - I’ve kept quiet all Spring, just soaking up the warmth and hoping today would get here quick! Guess what, it came in exactly as I planned… and, I’m sure most of you know this now but today was the first opening day shutout since 2005 – - things that make you go ‘huh?’ What if what if??? :)
