Still Recovering
Can’t speak for all White Sox fans, but I’m still recovering from yesterday’s “dramatic” victory in Cleveland, and …
TwitterBattle
The amazing response from White Sox fans in our first-ever TwitterBattle with the Indians. Not only did Southpaw “win” the competition, but #GoWhiteSox reached Twitter’s Global Trending Topics during our game. We went into the day hoping for responses in the hundreds, and instead, White Sox fans delivered nearly 7,400 tweets, catching the attention of social media and sports marketing execs around the country. And most importantly, StandUp 2 Cancer received $4K from the Sox and Indians. Whether it’s All-Star voting campaigns, Buehrle’s Perfect Game or this TwitterBattle, White Sox fans again showed their power in the online world. Thank you and way to go.
Big Series
The White Sox are 10-5 in their last 15 regular-season games in Tampa, hitting .281 with 19 home runs and a 2.47 ERA. Chicago is 28-22 (.560) all-time at the Trop, the fourth-best winning pct in the AL behind NYY (.612), Seattle (.608) and Cleveland (.563). Sox pitchers have a 2.36 ERA in their last 14 games in Tampa.
Congratulations
White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen will miss Friday’s game in Tampa for his son Ozney’s high school graduation from Monsignor Pace High School in Miami, Fla. Ozney, who was an all-state performer this year and has signed a letter of intent to play baseball at South Florida, is looking forward to MLB’s First-Year Player Draft on June 7.
Repping
Former big leaguer Michael Huff (now working at the Bulls/Sox Academy in Lisle) and Jared Mitchell (our 2009 first round pick who is currently recovering from a spring training injury), will represent the White Sox at the MLB Network studios for the draft. A year ago at this time, Mitchell was at LSU helping the Tigers win an NCAA baseball title.
Picnic In The Park
Collect autographs from your favorite White Sox players and enjoy an evening picnic and fireworks show in the USCF outfield after the game on Sunday, June 6 by clicking here. You also can watch a video by John Danks about the popular Chicago White Sox Charities event. Picnic in the Park is earlier this year than usual (it’s based on our schedule), so make sure you don’t miss out on the fun. Buy your tickets now.
Tweet, Eat & Drink with the Sox
Join other White Sox fans who follow the team on twitter and facebook at this special event on June 8. Twitter “experts” (I put experts in quotes because they call me one) from the sports world and business world will take part in a special pregame panel. Ticket includes the event and all you can eat and drink during the game … which also happens to be Hawk Harrelson Night (beat that!). The event is buzzing in the Twitter world, so buy your ticket now. Don’t wait.
Cool Video
This pretty cool home video (ignore the music) was sent my way. It’s from a White Sox vs. Orioles game at Old Comiskey Park on August 22, 1976. Thought White Sox fans might enjoy
Mr. President
With Preisdent Obama back in town this weekend, maybe he’ll be sporting his White Sox cap with pride around his old neighborhood.

Another offensive explosion leads to…………………another loss. Now almost a third of the seaon gone and this club sits 7 games below .500. One of the reasons it is so frustrating to watch this club is that they are so predictable.
Average (at best) starting pitching (mostly below average), an offense that shows up 1 game out of 4, an inconsistent bullpen and a closer who is overpaid and underperforming. Add it all up and you have a .400 club. No need to wait till they “turn it around”. This is as good as it gets. Gonna be a long summer.
