Big Homestand for the White Sox
Safe to say that tonight begins a big home stretch for the White Sox — really a big month for the Sox.
Beginning tonight, the Sox play 18 of their next 24 games in the City of Chicago, 15 at USCF and three at Wrigley Field. The Sox only “road” games in that stretch are a six-game trip to Pittsburgh (6/15-17) and Washington (6/18-20). Anyone joining me in DC for those games?
The Sox play 15 games against NL teams this month and are 26-13 since 2008 against the opposing league.
Finally, the Sox are 32-23 in June the last two seasons combined, 17-10 in 2008 and 15-13 in 2009.
Buehrle Ties Big Ed
Mark Buehrle is scheduled to make his 312th start tonight, with ties Ed Walsh for fourth most in White Sox history. Buehrle is 11-4 with a 3.07 ERA lifetime against Texas, including 7-2 with a 2.55 ERA at home.
Draft Coverage
White Sox scouts head to USCF at the end of this week to hold organizational meetings in preparation for the First-Year Player Draft on Monday, June 7. The draft airs on MLB Network Monday night and runs through Wednesday (coverage on Tuesday and Wednesday can be found at mlb.com). The Sox pick 13th overall in the first round.
MLB Network
In addition to attending Ozney Guillen’s high school graduation this weekend, TV crews from MLB Network’s “The Club” will be in town from Friday through Monday to shoot White Sox action and film the behind-the-scenes meetings leading up to the draft.
Picnic In The Park
Collect autographs from your favorite White Sox players and enjoy an evening picnic and fireworks show in the USCF outfield after the game on Sunday, June 6 by clicking here. You also can watch a video by John Danks about the popular Chicago White Sox Charities event. Picnic in the Park is earlier this year than usual (it’s based on our schedule), so make sure you don’t miss out on the fun. Buy your tickets now.
Tweet, Eat & Drink with the Sox
Join other White Sox fans who follow the team on twitter and facebook at this special event on June 8. Twitter “experts” (I put experts in quotes because they call me one) from the sports world and business world will take part in a special pregame panel. Ticket includes the event and all you can eat and drink during the game … which also happens to be Hawk Harrelson Night (beat that!). The event is buzzing in the Twitter world, so buy your ticket now. Don’t wait.
