Frank Thomas broke a 2-2 tie with an RBI single, and Herbert Perry tacked on an RBI double two batters later. The victory was the 14th in the last 15 road games for the Sox. Six Sox relievers combined to throw 6.0 scoreless IP, allowing two hits and one walk. Sean Lowe went 1.2 IP for the win, and Jesus Pena recorded the last out for his first major-league save.
