Back in Chicago

After spending much of yesterday on my way to, in and then sitting on an airplane to return from, New York City.  I landed just in time to listen to the top of the ninth.  It’s not a bad way to catch a game from time to time.  Avoids all of the angst.

From Today’s Game Notes

The White Sox look to extend their season-best winning streak to eight games and move two games above .500 for the first time since we were 63-61 on 8/23/09.  The seven-game winning streak is the longest since 6/27-7/3/09.  Last won eight straing 5/14-22/08.

Chicago is 11-1 since 6/9, tied with Texas for the best record in the major leagues.

Mark Buehrle’s 22 career interleague wins are tied with Jamie Moyer for the all-time lead.  Buehrle is 8-0 with a 1.63 ERA in his last 11 starts vs. the NL.

White Sox starting pitchers are 10-1 with a 2.11 ERA and 12 quality starts in the last 13 games, lowering their season ERA from 5.28 to 4.59.

The White Sox are hitting .292 with 66 runs scored during the 11-1 run, raising their average from .241 to a season high .250.  During the 12-game span, the Sox are hitting .378 with runners in scoring position.

PK is hitting .429 with 19 RBI in his last 19 games, Alex Rios is batting .341 in his last 49 games, while AJ has gone 14-32 (.438) in his last nine games.

The White Sox have won seven straight interleague games and are 11-2 in 2010, the best record in baseball.

The White Sox have hit one home run in their last nine games, including an eight-game drought from 6/12-20, which was their longest since 4/17-25-/93.

Juan Pierre needs one stolen base to tie Omar Moreno for 39th all-time with 487, Omar Vizquel needs one hit to tie Tony Perez for 53rd with 2,732, and Bobby Jenks is tied with Roberto Hernandez for second in Sox history with 162 saves.

When it rains, it pours …

Here’s hoping that our Boys can not only play today, but WIN again….. so I’ve watched the Mets beat the Tigers and am now watching the Brew-Crew holding down the Twins 3-2 in the fifth, but I want the Sox to keep up their momentum…… Besides, another win over the Braves would give me bragging rights when I visit my son in law tomorrow (the Braves fan)…. So…… Go Sox’10…..j.k.

And there IS another White Sox winner!!!!!! Thank you very much and good-night everybody…….j.k.

Nice win and another series win. What is that now ? 5 straight series wins and two sweeps?
MB – very gutty performance especially since he had a 13 inch strike zone and Hudson had 25! Love the way CQ flips his bat when he clobbers one. I am happily eating my crow and enjoying this SOX roll. Dare we hope for another series sweep tommorrow?
I say bring on the national league tribe for another drubbing and send them home to their reservation to contemplate the Chicago whirlwind that just got em!
