Sox Offense Explodes: 15 Runs, 15 Hits, 8 Bases on Balls

Dayan Viciedo smashed a grand slam, doubled and drove in six runs, Jordan Danks hit a two-run homer and a pair of doubles with five ribbies and Dewayne Wise added his third homer of the spring as the Sox crushed the Cubs, 15-3, this afternoon at Camelback Ranch-Glendale.

Starter Gavin Floyd was also very impressive, pitching 5 1/3 innings while allowing just one run and four hits along with five strikeouts.

Prior to today’s game, Jordan’s brother John took calls from @whitesox Twitter fans on the #SoxPhone.


Roster Moves

Following today’s game, the White Sox made four roster moves: RHP Andre Rienzo and Jhan Marinez, C Josh Phegley and OF Jared Mitchell were optioned to Class AAA Charlotte.

With the moves, the Sox have 41 players remaining in major-league camp: 21 pitchers, three catchers, 11 infielders and six outfielders.

White Sox vs. A’s at Camelback Ranch-Glendale (3:05 p.m., Chicago time). Chris Sale will start for the Sox vs. Jarrod Parker for Oakland.

…that entering today’s game Paul Konerko led the Cactus League in slugging percentage (.839), was tied for the lead in home runs (5) and ranked eighth in average (.355) and total bases (26)? And he continued his hotting hitting this afternoon with a perfect day–a single, double, a walk with a run scored.
