Get Well, Coop
Pitching coach Don Cooper is in the hospital with diverticulitis and is day-to-day. Bobby Thigpen moves into the dugout and Mark Salas will head the bullpen. “He’s not feeling real good, but he can still talk. I know that,” Robin joked. The skipper also kidded that the ailment might have been caused by too much “Funk 49” from the Bob Seger-Joe Walsh concert that they both attended Saturday night.

Today will be the first April game since 1972 that Sox pitchers will bat. The last Sox hurler to step to the plate in April was Terry Forster, who not only led the team in saves that year with 29, but batted .526 (10-19). Thanks to @soxnerd for the tip.
