Tonight’s Game

White Sox vs Rangers at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington (7:05 p.., CT, CSN+). Starters: Jose Quintana (2-0) for the Sox, Yu Darvish (4-1) for Texas.

Casper Wells Joins Sox

On yesterday’s off-day the White Sox acquired righthanded-hitting outfielder Casper Wells from the Oakland A’s for cash considerations. To make room on the 40-man roster, pitcher Leyson Septimo was transferred to the 60-day disabled list.

Wells, a four-year major leaguer who is a career .244 hitter with 25 homers and 80 RBI in 244 games, takes Blake Tekotte’s spot on the 25-man roster. Tekotte was optioned to Class AAA Charlotte after Sunday’s game.

In addition to the A’s, Wells has seen action with the Tigers and Mariners. Here’s what was waiting for him in his locker in Arlington:


Good Report

Dayan Viciedo, on the disabled list with a strained oblique, feels a lot better today. He took about 25 swings and didn’t have any pain.

Jordan Danks

Jordan was in the starting lineup tonight, but removed in favor of Dewayne Wise due to an inflamed bursa sac in his right knee. The lineup change was a precaution and Jordan is day-to-day.

Play of the Day

Paul Konerko, boasting a .500 batting average with runners in scoring position, is among the American League leaders–tied for fifth place with the Tigers’ Miguel Cabrera.
