Final: White Sox 9, Twins 4
Highlights: I’m happy to say that there are many from this afternoon’s win…The Sox scored nine runs, their highest total this season, on 14 hits…Adam Dunn hit two home runs (his eighth and ninth), a double and drove in five…Dayan Viciedo blasted his fourth homer of the year, had a single and drove in two…Jeff Keppinger also knocked in a pair on two hits, including a double…Alex Rios collected a triple and two singles and reached base with two outs and nobody on before both of Dunn’s homers…Conor Gillaspie had a pair of singles and scored a run…Starter Dylan Axelrod got credit for his first victory of the season in a gutty 5.1 inning performance, escaping jam after jam…Matt Thornton, Nate Jones and Brian Omogrosso pitched scoreless relief…The Sox defense was flawless.
Gordon said he is leaving today for his rehab assignment in Charlotte. Looks like he won’t be in the lineup until Saturday.
The Bobblehead Chronicles
In the “enjoy it for what it’s worth” department, here’s one writer’s view of the bobblehead craze in baseball.
Quote of the Day
Robin on having such an accomplished batsman as Harold Baines working with Sox hitters:
“There are guys that have knowledge, there are guys who use knowledge, but it seems like when it comes from (Harold) it’s validated a little more quickly. (There may be) doubts about things that are said, but when he says it, it’s validated.”
Play(s) of the Day
White Sox vs. Angels at Angel Stadium of Anaheim (9:05 p.m., CT, CSN). Starters: Jose Quintana (2-0) for the Sox, Jerome Williams (2-1) for L.A.
Did You Know…
…that former White Sox first baseman and broadcaster Tom Paciorek will join Hawk in the TV booth for theThursday-Sunday series in Anaheim? “Wimpy” will be subbing for Steve Stone, who has the series off. Paciorek, of course, worked with Harrelson on the TV broadcasts from 1990-1999.
