Today’s News
The Game
Final:  Angels 6, Sox 2
Beckham Ready for his Closeup?
In his first two games (yesterday and today) rehabbing with Class AAA Charlotte, Gordon Beckham went 5-9 with three runs scored and two runs batted in at Buffalo.
Quote of the Day
Adam Dunn, who has had a hot bat in recent days, talked to the Sun-Times’ Daryl Van Schouwen about returning to the lineup today after leaving yesterday’s game with back spasms:
“Yesterday was pretty bad. Now it’s good, it’s fine. It’s nothing that I don’t think will be a long-term deal.”
Play of the Day
Today:  Alex Rios’s run-scoring double in the eighth inning that got the Sox on the board and extended his personal hitting streak to 14.
Yesterday: I posted before yesterday’s game so I didn’t get the chance to give props to Hector Gimenez, who went 4-5 with a three-run homer.
Tomorrow’s Schedule
White Sox vs. Red Sox at U.S. Cellular Field (7:10 p.m., CT, CSN) in the opener of a three-game series. Starters: Dylan Axelrod (1-3) for Sox, Jon Lester (6-0) for Boston.
Did You Know…
…that 34 of the White Sox’s 42 games this season have been decided by three runs or less.

Axelrod, who earned his first win last Wednesday with a gutty performance against the Twins, will challenge the undefeated Lester tomorrow night.
