Quote of the Day

Rookie pitcher Andre Rienzo, who has already made an impression with his energetic style, via whitesox.com‘s Scott Merkin:

“You always want to be going at 100 (percent). I need to be at 100 for making the energy come through for the team and to help the team. This is awesome. My dream is to be here and hopefully I can answer well for coach Robin (Ventura) for giving me the opportunity. I will help the team and try to do my best.”

Play of the Day

Alejandro De Aza hit his 13th homer of the season and Jordan Danks collected a pair of singles in his first start since being recalled from Class AAA Charlotte in yesterday’s loss to the Indians.

Tomorrow’s Schedule

White Sox vs. Tigers at Comerica Park (6:05 p.m., CT, WGN). Starters: LHP John Danks (2-8, 4.57) for the Sox, RHP Max Scherzer (15-1, 3.01) for Detroit.

Did You Know…

…that infielder Marcus Semien has been named the Southern League Player of the Week and Class AA Birmingham teammate Scott Snodgress the Pitcher of the Week for the period of July 22-28?

Semien, who yesterday was promoted to Charlotte and singled and doubled in his first game while starting at shortstop, hit .583 for the week with four homers, a triple, three doubles, 11 runs batted in and 10 runs scored. On the season, he ranked among the league leaders in runs, walks, total bases on-base percentage, hits and batting average.

The lefty Snodgress went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA, allowing just five hits with seven strikeouts. He continued his solid pitching last night for the Barons, allowing just one earned run and three hits in eight innings of work against Tennessee.

If our Sox have Robin “Sleepy” Ventura back next year…..I have three words— “JUST SHOOT ME!” Anybody notice how when the Sox don’t hustle…..Hawk NEVER says a word! Harrelson has ZERO credibility in the booth. Too busy telling whoppers about what happened when he played back in the day.
