Sale’s Mission: Win Third Straight Start
White Sox vs. Twins at Target Field, Minneapolis (6:10 p.m, CT, WGN). LHP Chris Sale (8-11, 2.73) for the Sox, LHP Andrew Albers (2-0, 0.00) for Minnesota. Chris is coming off two straight wins–against the Yankees on August 6, when he didn’t allow an earned run, and a complete game victory Monday vs. the Tigers in his last start. Sale ranks fifth in the American League in strikeouts (167) and ERA (2.73). He is 3-1 with a 1.85 ERA in 12 career games (four starts) vs. the Twins.
Reliever Ramon Troncoso has been placed on the 15-day disabled list and rookie righthander Jake Petricka has been promoted from Class AAA Charlotte. Petricka posted a 2-0 record with a 1.17 earned run average in 10 games for the Knights and was 3-0 with a 2.06 ERA in 21 games at Class AA Birmingham. It’s interesting to note that Petricka (who is called both Jake and Jacob) is from a Minneapolis suburb and will have plenty of support the next two days at Target Field as he reaches the major leagues for the first time.
