All My Children

Avisail Garcia was back in the lineup last night after being away for the birth of his first child, daughter Anarella. While Garcia rejoined the Sox, it’s now Dayan Viciedo’s turn as the Sox outfielder returned to be with his wife who gave birth to the couple’s second child, a daughter named Dayana.

Play of the Day

Welcome back…Avi hit his fifth home run of the season, a two-run blast, and a run-scoring triple in last night’s loss to the Tigers.

Quote of the Day

Robin, who went through the experience of becoming a father when he was a player, talked about what Garcia is going through. And it certainly applies to Viciedo as well.

“For me, my wife was great as far as letting me get a little rest. The adrenaline and the excitement (Avi) has is going to overtake the fatigue he probably has from what he has been through the last few days.”

Tomorrow’s Schedule

White Sox vs. Tigers at Comerica Park (12:05 p.m., CT, CSN) in the finale of the three-game series and the last time the Sox face the Tigers this season. Starters: RHP Erik Johnson (1-2, 2.87) for the Sox, RHP Anibal Sanchez (14-7, 2.51) for Detroit.

Did You Know…

…that Conor Gillaspie, who tripled last night with an RBI and run scored, is batting .349 in his last 21 games? Among American League rookies he’s second in games (127), third in hits (97), tied for third in home runs (12), tied for third in runs scored (41) and sixth in RBI (36).
