Today’s News

The Game

At Tempe…

White Sox   6  12  2

Angels        8  12  2

Plays of the Day

Down 8-3, the Sox rallied for three runs in the eighth inning. Alex Liddi tripled and scored on a wild pitch and Blake Tekotte belted a two-run homer to make it 8-6 (click on link to video below)…Micah Johnson (pictured above), now batting .500 in Cactus League play, went 2-3 with three RBI and Jordan Danks was 2-2 with three runs scored…Matt Davidson collected a pair of base hits…Ronald Belisario made his first Cactus League appearance in the sixth and gave up a single and struck out two in his scoreless IP…Nate Jones shut out the Angels on one hit while striking out three in two innings of work.

Sox Note of Note

Matt Lindstrom threw a bullpen session today and said he felt great. He expects to get into game action in a few days.

Good to see former White Sox pitcher Hector Santiago outside the Angels clubhouse before today’s game in scenic Tempe.

I asked about the state of his game.

“78!” He said proudly, “with eight one-putts.”

Food Thoughts, etc.

Dined at SOL Cocina on Scottsdale Road last night with 24 other team PR professionals, courtesy of Phyllis Merhige and Katy Feeney of MLB.

We had a fixed menu featuring tacos. Solid, but I wouldn’t spend another evening at the spot, IMO.

Funny part of the evening came as all of us were looking at our phones at the same time (PR people tend to do that). One phone rang and someone joked, “let’s see who else’s phone rings!” (At the winter meetings you can always tell when a trade is near because PR reps from two different teams will get up from our meetings and leave as their GMs call with news to announce).

Tonight, it’s Barrio Cafe as featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. Herm Schneider is buying!

Quote of the Day

@DavidHaugh: John Danks on bouncing back from 2013: “Looking forward to getting revenge on a lot of people.”

Tomorrow’s Schedule

Here’s a “sneak peek” at a new Sox commercial that will air during tomorrow’s Comcast SportsNet telecast of Sox-Tribe–the first broadcast of the spring.
