Alexei Ramirez went 4-5 to raise his batting average to .338 and scored twice in last night’s loss to the Cubs…Conor Gillaspie went 2-4 with a walk and an RBI in his return to the lineup from the DL…Tyler Flowers drove in a pair of runs and scored another and Dayan Viciedo and Moises Sierra each had an RBI. It was the first ribbie for Sierra in a Sox uniform.

Alexei matched a career high with his four hits last night. His 15 multi-hit games this season are the second-most in the American League and tied for the third-most in baseball. He ranks among the AL leaders in batting average with two outs (2nd, .395), two strikes (6th, .298) and RISP/two outs (8th, .438)…Jose Abreu leads the majors with 12 homers, 24 extra-base hits and 86 total bases, ranks second wth 35 RBI and third with a .608 slugging percentage. He is hitting .308 with four homers and 25 RBI with RISP and has three multi-homer and seven multi-RBI games…Gordon Beckham is hitting .368 with two home runs and four RBI in his last four games…Matt Lindstrom owns a 0.57 ERA in 17 career games vs. the D-backs. The last 16 outings have been scoreless…Robin Ventura will miss tomorrow night’s game to attend the graduation of his daughter, Rachel, from Oklahoma State–he’ll be back for Sunday’s game. Bench coach Mark Parent will serve as interim manager.

Happy Birthday to one-time White Sox star outfielder Floyd Robinson, who had three .300-plus seasons and a .287 batting average with 65 homers in seven campaigns (1960-66) on the South Side. Floyd is 78 today.
