Eaton Close to Returning

Adam Eaton will continue the last phase of his road back today after being on the 15-day disabled list since May 3. He will work out this morning in Oakland and then will take off for Durham, N.C., to play with Class AAA Charlotte on Thursday and Friday. He’ll then head to Norfolk, Va. with the Knights to play on Saturday. He’ll join the White Sox in Houston on Sunday if all goes well.

Keppinger Designated for Assignment

The White Sox returned infielder Jeff Keppinger from his injury rehabilitation assignment with Class AA Birmingham, reinstated him from the 15-day disabled list and designated him for assignment.

GM Rick Hahn on the decision: “We are focusing on the future as opposed to trying to justify a decision from the past.”

Here’s Roger Bossard, the Sodfather, addressing the crowd at today’s inaugural Turf Clinic at U.S. Cellular Field.

“Wimpy” Houston-bound

Tom Paciorek will work with Hawk Harrelson in the TV booth this weekend in Houston with Steve Stone taking the series off. Some will remember that Wimpy played both baseball and football at the University of Houston.

Congrats to the Blackhawks

We congratulate our friends with the Blackhawks on their exciting OT victory last night over the Wild. The win gave the Hawks a 4-2 series win and they now advance to the Western Conference finals. Good luck from everyone in the White Sox organization!

Quote of the Day

Rienzo on facing the A’s for the first time:

“I know they’ve got a tough team. It’s a team where you want to pitch to contact. I’m just trying to do that so if they get a hit, they get a hit. If not, then I’ll get an out. Something I’m working with Don Cooper on is trying to pitch to contact. I’m not trying to change anything, just going to do what I have to do and make it happen.”

Tomorrow’s Schedule

Off Day. On Friday, White Sox vs. Astros at Minute Maid Park, Houston (7:10, CT, CSN) in the first of a three-game weekend series. Starters: LHP Jose Quintana (1-3, 3.67) for the Sox, RHP Collin McHugh (2-1, 2.81) for the Astros.

Photo of the Day

Sox infielder Marcus Semien is a native of the Bay Area and had about 30 friends and family attend last night’s game. Semien remembers that he was in the stands at San Francisco’s Candlestick Park in 1997 when then-LA Dodger Paul Konerko played in his fourth major-league game. It was Semien’s seventh birthday. Little did Marcus know that all these years later he would be teammates with Paulie and even have the opportunity drive him in on a game-winning grand slam as pictured below.
