Tonight’s Game

White Sox vs. Astros at Minute Maid Park, Houston (7:10, CT, CSN) in the first of a three-game weekend series. Starters: LHP Jose Quintana (1-3, 3.67) for the Sox, RHP Collin McHugh (2-1, 2.81) for the Astros.

Sox Starting Lineup: Beckham 2B, Gillaspie 3B, Abreu DH, Dunn 1B, Viciedo LF, Ramirez SS, De Aza CF, Flowers C, Sierra RF.

Sox Notes of Note

The White Sox rank among the American League leaders in runs scored (T2nd, 205), homers (T2nd, 46), extra-base hits (3rd, 130), slugging percentage (4th, .416) and runs per game (5th, 4.88)…Sox rank second in the AL and third in the majors with a .278 average with runners in scoring position. Alexei Ramirez (5th, .404), Conor Gillaspie (19th, .348) and Tyler Flowers (T20th, .346) are in the league’s Top 25 in that category…Jose Abreu leads the major leagues with 15 home runs. 27 extra-base hits, 103 total bases and an 11.07 AB/HR ratio and ranks second with 41 RBI and a .620 slugging percentage. He is hitting .341 with five homers and 29 RBI with RISP…Tom “Wimpy” Paciorek joins Hawk Harrelson in the Sox TV booth for the Houston series as Steve Stone has the weekend off. Stone will return on Monday for the three-game series in Kansas City…ex-White Sox second baseman Chris Getz has retired at the age of 30. He was recently outrighted from Toronto to Class AAA Buffalo, but decided to call it a career after seven seasons with the Sox, Royals and Blue Jays. “I’ve enjoyed every minute that I’ve played and will always be passionate about the game,” Getz said upon announcing his retirement.

Sale, Eaton Will Try Again

Last night’s game between the Class AAA Charlotte Knights and Durham Bulls was postponed due to rain. So, Chris Sale and Adam Eaton, who were both set to begin their respective rehab stints with Charlotte, were delayed a day and will now take part in a doubleheader in Durham tonight, beginning at 6:00 p.m., ET. Sale will pitch the opener and Eaton is expected to play in both seven-innning games. He’ll be in the leadoff spot, playing center field in Game 1.
