Foster Family Day
Tomorrow is Foster Family Day at the ballpark.
For the eighth year in a row, Paul Konerko and his family are supporting the Bring Me Home Campaign, which brings attention to the needs of vulnerable children and families in Illinois through a partnership between the Sox and Children’s Home+Aid.
Konerko and Jim Thome and their families founded the campaign in 2007 and Gordon Beckham joined the effort three years later. In the first seven years of the program, the campaign has raised nearly $450,000 through more than 600 individual donors, while touching the lives of more than 1,500 children.
Michael Jordan Era Throwback Night
The Birmingham Barons, the Sox’ Class AA affiliate, wore Michael Jordan-era throwback uniforms last night, which will be auctioned off as well.
Quote of the Day
Robin on the Sox’ opponents interest in Abreu:
“They’re just impressed with his professionalism. He’s not a flamboyant guy, but he comes to work. I think they come out, even for BP, and watch him.
“I think everybody’s interested because they’ve heard about him but they haven’t seen him, so everybody comes out to watch. That’s the first thing they notice, is how he goes about his work. He’s very meticulous and professional about his work, and I think people appreciate that.”
White Sox vs. Royals at U.S. Cellular Field (1:10 p.m., CT, CSN) in the finale of the three-game series. Starters: RHP Andre Rienzo (4-3, 5.25) for the Sox, RHP James Shields (7-3, 3.34) for Kansas City.
