Thome Feted With Statue
I was honored to be in Cleveland yesterday when the Indians unveiled a statue of Jim Thome, who spent 2006-2009 with the Sox and currently serves as a special assistant to GM Rick Hahn. Jim broke in with the Tribe in 1991 and spent 13 of his 22 major-league seasons with them.
Quotes of the Day
Twins’ skipper Ron Gardenhire on pitching around Abreu (via @scottmerkin):
“Well, we’re thinking about trying to slip in a few more defenders in the outfield.”
