White Sox vs Mariners at Safeco Field, Seattle (9:10 p.m., CT, WGN) in the opener of a four-game series and six-game road trip that concludes with two games in San Francisco next Tuesday and Wednesday. Starters: RHP Scott Carroll (4-6, 4.36) for the Sox, LHP Roenis Elias (8-9, 4.19) for Seattle.
Sox to Honor Paulie
The White Sox will honor retiring captain Paul Konerko throughout the month of September with tributes and a special promotional calendar for fans for each of the month’s 11 home games.
The month-long festivities include the creation of “Club Konerko” in Sections 158 and 159 (total of 1,176 seats). “Club Konerko” includes the blue seat (Section 159, Row 7, Seat 4) where Konerko’s grand slam landed during Game 2 of the 2005 World Series. Fans who purchase tickets in one of the two designated sections during the month of September will receive an exclusive Paul Konerko-themed collectible to be picked up at the Chicago Sports Depot before the game.
White Sox fans attending games in September also will have the opportunity to receive various Paul Konerko giveaway items in September. Konerko will be the featured player for the final “Free T-Shirt Monday” giveaway when the White Sox face Oakland on September 8. On Saturday, September 13 vs. Minnesota, the first 20,000 fans will receive a “Piece of Paulie” baseball card, a special trading card with a piece of a game-worn Paul Konerko uniform, presented by Wintrust Community Banks. Paul Konerko has played 16 seasons with the White Sox. The six-time American League All-Star is the White Sox franchise leader in total bases (4,003). As of August 4, Konerko (432) was 16 homers behind Hall-of-Famer Frank Thomas (448) for the franchise record, while ranking third in hits (2,286) and doubles (405). The 38-year-old has seen 36,438 pitches at the plate throughout his major league career.
Tickets to all White Sox games are available online at whitesox.com, via phone at 866-SOX-GAME and in person at the U.S. Cellular Field ticket office.
All “Club Konerko” giveaways will be given to fans who purchase tickets in Sections 158 and 159, and must be picked up at Chicago Sports Depot before the 3rd inning of the game. The full list of Paul Konerko giveaways includes:

In absorbing the loss in yesterday’s defeat at the hands of the Rangers. Chris Sale gave up just two runs, three hits and a pair of walks along with nine strikeouts. Now 10-2, Sale has recorded an impressive 2.08 ERA in his two losses this season…Dayan Viciedo connected for his 14th homer, a solo shot (click on link below), and Alexei Ramirez collected a double and two singles to raise his batting average to .292.
Adam Eaton has a bruised back after colliding into the wall in yesterday’s game (click on link below). X-Rays were negative.

Avi Garcia singled, doubled and scored twice last night in Class AAA Charlotte’s victory over Gwinnett. Garcia is now batting .529 in five games during his rehab assignment…catcher Josh Phegley collected three hits, including a three-run homer, and drove in a season-high six runs in the Knights win. Phegley has been red-hot since appearing in the International League All-Star Game, batting .368 with five homers and 23 RBI in his last 17 games…1B Andy Wilkins hit his league-leading 27th homer and OF Michael Taylor went 3-3 with a pair of RBI…After two relief appearances, No. 1 draft pick Carlos Rodon (pictured below) made his first pro start this afternoon for Class A Winston-Salem against Potomac. He tossed three scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and a walk while striking out three.
