Plays of the Day
Scott Carroll was outstanding in yesterday’s 2-0 Sox loss to the Indians. He tossed seven innings (he gave up a single in the eighth before exiting), allowing just two runs on seven hits with a lone walk (click on top link below)…Andy Wilkins doubled in the fifth inning for his first major-league hit (click on bottom link below).
Quote of the Day
Wilkins on getting his chance in the major leagues (via Colleen Kane in the Trib):
“The game’s still the same, but guys are obviously a lot sharper up here. I believe I’m capable of doing well at this level. I know it’s not quite as amped up as it is during the season, but I’ve hit off big-league pitchers in spring training. Obviously it’s different, but I’m just going to adjust, and with time, getting more ABs will help that process.”
