Today’s News

This Afternoon’s Game

White Sox vs. Indians at Goodyear (3:05 p.m., CT, CSN). Probable Starters: RHP Scott Carroll for the Sox, RHP Carlos Carrasco for the Tribe.

Yesterday’s Highlights

As he has done all spring, Alexei Ramirez delivered the goods yesterday with a two-run double (click on link below) in the White Sox’ loss to Oakland at Camelback Ranch-Glendale. The two runs batted in gives Alexei a total of 17, which leads both the Cactus and Grapefruit Leagues…While Ramirez leads all major leaguers in RBI, Jose Abreu is the MLB pacesetter in batting average with a .479 mark as a result of going 2-5 against the A’s with a pair of singles…Geovany Soto and J.B Shuck each doubled in a run…Sox starter Jose Quintana was solid in six innings of work. He gave up just one earned run on six hits with five strikeouts and no walks…Zach Putnam pitched the ninth, his third straight scoreless outing.

Roster Moves

The White Sox have optioned RHP Daniel Webb to Class AAA Charlotte and reassigned LHP Zach Phillips to minor-league camp. Sox now have 39 players in big-league camp–23 pitchers, three catchers, eight infielders and five outfielders.

Quote of the Day

Matt Snyder of CBS on Eaton:

“He hit .300 with a .362 on-base percentage, 15 steals and AL-best 10 triples last season. That’s the work of a great leadoff man. It’s not just that, though. Watch him play. He’s intense, a hustler, a max-effort guy…Fun player.”

Tomorrow’s Schedule

White Sox vs. Indians at Camelback Ranch-Glendale (3:05 p.m., CT). Probable Starters: RHP Hector Noesi for the Sox, RHP Trevor Bauer for Cleveland.
