GM Hahn: Petricka to Start Season on DL, But Should be Back Soon

Sox General Manager Rick Hahn said yesterday that reliever Jake Petricka, who hasn’t seen action since March 23 because of right forearm/elbow soreness, will begin the year on the disabled list. The good news is that an MRI has determined his arm is “clean” so it should be a short stint–he will be eligible to join the Sox as early as April 11.

Hahn:

“It did not make sense to try to rush and jam an outing or two in and force him on to the active roster. Hopefully it’s just a small setback. Again we prefer to err on the side of caution whenever possible.”

Quote of the Day

Known as a player who is all business on the field, Melky Cabrera (pictured above) showed his lighter side recently when he playfully threw a wad of paper at Jose Abreu when last year’s AL Rookie of the Year was being interviewed in front of a camera. Melky’s explanation via the Sun-Times‘ Daryl Van Schouwen:

“I showed that my arm is good. I always try to mess with him because he’s a good guy and we have a very good relationship. It’s good to have an atmosphere where you can relax and that kind of stuff.”

Home Opener Sold Out

The April 10 home opener vs. the Twins is sold out, except for a limited number of standing room only tickets and those remaining as part of season-ticket plans. Fans interested in buying SRO tickets should visit the U.S. Cellular Box Office.
