Opening Day Roster
Robin indicated that the entire 25-man roster will be revealed tomorrow.
Carlos Rodon continued his solid spring, ending his first White Sox camp with a strong 5.1 innings pitched. He allowed just a run, four hits, two walks and two strikeouts in the Sox’ 2-1 victory over the Dodgers at Camelback Ranch-Glendale. In all Rodon, was 2-0 and posted a 3.06 ERA with 21 strikeouts and only five walks in 17.2 IP… Jose Abreu has certainly given every indication that he’s going to pick up this season where he left off in 2014. As a result of going 4-4 yesterday–two doubles, two singles–with an RBI (click on link below) Jose is now hitting a major-league-leading .519 in Cactus League action…Geovany Soto was on fire yesterday, throwing out three baserunners to stifle L.A. rallies…J.B. Shuck (pictured below) singled, doubled and scored a run. He’s batting .370 in Cactus League play…Carlos Sanchez singled twice and scored…In his first appearance in a Sox uniform, Kyle Drabek pitched 1.1 scoreless innings while Jairo Asencio pitched scoreless ball in the eighth and ninth.
Quote of the Day
GM Rick Hahn on Rodon:
“We’re talking about a kid who is 22, 23 years old, who was in the ACC a year ago at this time, has fewer than 25 professional innings, and yet here we are talking about the finishing elements of his development. That’s fantastic. We’re in a great position. Carlos is in a great position. …You’re not talking about talent. You’re not talking about ceiling. You’re not talking about mechanics or health or anything that’s going to be a factor in his long-term success–we’re talking about practice.”
White Sox vs. Diamondbacks at Salt River Fields, Scottsdale (2:10 p.m., CT, CSN) in the final Cactus League contest. Probable Starters: LHP Jose Quintana for the Sox, RHP Rubby De La Rosa for Arizona.
Friday in Charlotte
The plan is for John Danks, David Robertson, Zach Duke and Zach Putnam to pitch against the Class AAA Knights in Charlotte on Friday.
