This Afternoon’s Game

White Sox vs. Indians at U.S. Cellular Field (1:10 p.m., CT, CSN) in the rubber match of the three-game series. Probable Starters: RHP Jeff Samardzija for the Sox, RHP Corey Kluber for the Tribe.

The Shark will be making his fourth start of the season, second at home and first career appearance vs. Cleveland. He hurled a gem in his last start April 17 in Detroit despite receiving a no-decision. He allowed just one run on eight hits with seven strikeouts over eight innings.

Yesterday’s Highlights

Jose also singled in his ninth run of the year…The Sox’ No.1 and No. 2 hitters, Adam Eaton and Melky Cabrera, also had a pair of base hits apiece…Carlos Rodon made his big-league debut, giving up a pair of runs in 2.1 innings pitched. He fanned Lonnie Chisenhall in the eighth inning for his first strikeout…Zach Duke pitched a scoreless ninth.

2005 Flashback

Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Sox’ championship season…

In Game 13 on April 18 the White Sox began an eight-game winning streak with a 5-4 win over the Twins at U.S. Cellular Field. Carl Everett smashed two homers and drove in three while Joe Crede delivered a two-run blast. Luis Vizcaino was the winning pitcher in relief and Shingo Takatsu recorded his fourth save. After the victory, the first-place Sox stood at 9-4.
