Quote of the Day
Micah Johnson on the help he’s been given by Robin Ventura, via Scott Merkin of whitesox.com:
“We’re out there probably five days a week taking ground balls early, and he’s standing there right next to me, talking to me pretty much every ground ball. He lets me play my game. If you get out sometimes, especially when you’re young, you’ll be like, ‘Oh man.’ But he’s right there, and he keeps instilling confidence in you quietly.”
A Minnie Tribute
Sixty-four years ago yesterday, the late Minnie Minoso became the first black player in White Sox history and also hit his first major-league homer in his first at bat in a Sox uniform. Last night, the Sox paid tribute to the historic anniversary by wearing wristbands in batting practice adorned with Minnie’s No. 9 and the word, “Gracias.” Here are Jose Abreu, David Robertson, Emilio Bonifacio and Avi Garcia joining in on the tribute.
White Sox vs. Twins at Target Field (1:10 p.m., CT, CSN) in the finale of the four-game series and five-game road trip that began with the one game in Baltimore. Probable Starters: LHP John Danks (1-2, 5.64) for the Sox, RHP Mike Pelfrey (2-0, 2.25) for Minny.
