Last Night’s Highlights

The White Sox turned to their 1983 vintage uniforms last night for the first time this season with the hope it would be good karma and help halt their five-game skid. And it worked like a charm in the 5-2 win over the Tigers…Conor Gillaspie had a pair of hits, tripling in a pair of runs in the four-run third inning (click on top link below)…Jose Abreu, Adam LaRoche and Avi Garcia added an RBI apiece…Jeff Samardzija (click on bottom link below) won his second game of the season with a strong seven-inning outing. He gave up two runs, seven hits and a lone walk along with seven strikeouts…Zach Duke pitched a perfect eighth inning and David Robertson was his usual unhittable self in the ninth as he recorded his fifth save. His ERA remains at 0.00.

Quotes of the Day

Samardzija:

“Obviously we’re not going to hide behind anything. That was a terrible road trip for us, and we weren’t happy with the way it went. But it wasn’t the most normal road trip in the world with what happened in Baltimore and everything. So we just needed to regroup and understand that we have a great team here and we just need to go out and do what we do.”

Gillaspie:

“We worked the count and didn’t chase out of the zone, and that’s half the battle up here. It’s great to get a team win like that. It feels good.”

Tomorrow’s Schedule
