2005 Flashback

Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Sox’ championship season…

In Game 43 on May 21 at Wrigley Field, the White Sox scored four runs in the eighth inning, highlighted by a two-run single by Paul Konerko and a two-run double by Carl Everett, and Jermaine Dye hit homer No. 9 in the ninth to defeat the Cubs, 5-3. Jose Contreras tossed seven solid innings to earn his second victory of the season and Dustin Hermanson chalked up his 10th save. The first-place Sox improved to 31-12.

Everett was a big contributor to the Sox offense during the 2005 season. The DH/OF hit 23 homers and drove in 87 runs. He hit .444 (4-9) in the World Series.
