Yesterday’s Highlights

Josh Donaldson, the White Sox’ latest nemesis, did his best yesterday to ruin the finale of the first series in our 11-game Sox road trip. After hitting the walk-off, three-run homer Tuesday night, he tied the game yesterday, 3-3, in the bottom of the ninth. But it wasn’t enough as we showed our resiliency in the top of the 10th. Jose Abreu tripled, his second of the season, and came home on an Adam LaRoche single (click on top link below). Gordon Beckham added some insurance by doubling in Emilio Bonifacio, who came in to run for LaRoche, and the Sox held on to win, 5-3…Abreu, who went 3-5 on the day, doubled in a pair of runs in the third as his pop to right field got lost in the sun…J.B. Shuck had two hits and an RBI, Adam Eaton collected a pair of base hits…For the second straight day, the Sox pounded out 14 hits…Jeff Samardzija was outstanding in his seven innings of work, giving up one unearned run, eight scattered hits and a walk along with striking out five (click on bottom link below)…David Robertson recorded his fourth win, pitching both the ninth and the 10th.
