Ready to Take the Next Step
Carson Fulmer, the White Sox’ No. 1 selection (eighth overall) in the recent amateur draft, made his final college appearance a memorable one. The right-hander was dominant last night as he led his Vanderbilt Commodores to win one game of their second consecutive College World Series title with a 5-1 victory over Virginia.
Fulmer tossed 7.2 shutout innings, allowing just two hits while striking out eight.

Lefty reliever Dan Jennings began a rehab assignment yesterday with Class AAA Charlotte and pitched two innings last night in the series opener at Syracuse. Sox third-base prospect Matt Davidson is having an outstanding power year for the Knights, leading the International League with 13 homers.

In Game 70 on June 21 at U.S. Cellular Field vs. the Royals, Jon Garland (12-2) pitched 8.1 innings, allowing a lone run on four hits as the White Sox won their sixth in a row, 5-1, for their 48th win of the season…Scott Podsednik went 3-4 with an RBI, Pablo Ozuna had two runs batted in and A.J. Pierzynski and Joe Crede added an RBI apiece.
