Tonight’s Game

White Sox vs. Cardinals at U.S. Cellular Field (7:10 p.m. CT, WPWR) in the opener of a two-game series. Probable Starters: LHP Carlos Rodon (3-2, 3.80) for the Sox, RHP Carlos Martinez (10-3, 2.52) for St. Louis.

The Sox swept the Redbirds, 2-1 and 7-1, in a two-game series on June 30 and July 1 in St. Louis.

Field of Greens

With yesterday an off day for the Sox, it was off to the golf course for the Field of Greens Celebrity Golf Tournament at Harborside International Golf Course in Chicago. The annual tournament supports pediatric cancer research and treatment programs at local hospitals through Chicago White Sox Charities.

2005 Flashback

Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Sox’ championship season…

In Game 91 on July 18 vs. the Tigers at U.S. Cellular Field, the first-place White Sox downed Detroit, 7-5, on the strength of a five-run seventh inning, highlighted by three home runs. With the Sox down 4-1 heading into the seventh, Paul Konerko hit his 21st, a solo shot, Joe Crede belted a three-run blast (No. 13) and Juan Uribe added his seventh homer with nobody on. Luis Viscaino (4-3) earned the win in relief and Cliff Politte chalked up save No. 1 as the Sox won their fifth straight game and improved to 62-29.
