Quote of the Day

Here’s Robin singing the praises of Alexei Ramirez‘s recent defense, a big reason for the Sox surge (via @CSNHayes):

“He’s been sharp…He has been playing some fantastic defense for us. You get the guys in the middle of the field, him and (Carlos Sanchez), we’ve turned some double plays in recent weeks that helps you and helps your pitchers and he’s been right there. He’s been on time.”

White Sox RBI Team Advances to World Series

The White Sox team competing in the Junior Baseball Division (Ages 13-15) of the Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) program is one of eight clubs in its category that have advanced to the RBI World Series, which begins Wednesday, August 12. The event, which also includes Senior Baseball and Softball divisions, will be hosted by the Texas Rangers for the second consecutive year. The competition in the three divisions will be played on fields throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex area with the championship games played at Globe Life Park, home of the Rangers, in Arlington, Tex.

A team from Chicago has represented the Junior Division in the World Series 11 of the last 14 years while the city has had a team in the Senior Division 12 of the last 14.

Sox Note of Note

The Sox have acquired infielder Justin Sellers from the Pirates for a player to be named later. He’ll get playing time at Class AAA Charlotte with Micah Johnson on the disabled list with a hamstring issue.
