Quotes of the Day
Trayce Thompson, son of former NBA star Mychal and brother of current Golden State Warrior Klay and former Cleveland Cavalier Mychel, talked about reaching the major leagues after seven years in the Sox system.
Thompson (right) and Tyler Saladino were roommates in Charlotte while playing for the Knights. Now the buddies are back together as big-leaguers.
Sox Scouting Department Promotions
The White Sox have promoted Nick Hostetler to director of amateur scouting and Doug Laumann to senior advisor to scouting operations.
Hostetler replaces Laumann, who had served in that capacity since November, 2007. Hostetler worked as an area scout with the Sox (2002-04) and Atlanta Braves (2005-07) and as the Sox East Coast Crosschecker from 2008-11 before being promoted to assistant scouting director in 2012.
Alexei for the Defense
Nobody did it better in July than Alexei Ramirez.
Thirty years ago today, Hall of Famer Tom Seaver won his 300th game vs. the Yankees at Yankee Stadium.
Southpaw’s Best Friend
Watch this amazing video and read the letter below to Carrie Norwood of the White Sox.
Sam has seen this video twice now and he has cried both times. He said he is so grateful for Southpaw and the White Sox and it was “the best day of his life!”
I can’t thank you, Southpaw, the White Sox and all the crew enough for this gift.
Life is good.
