Tonight’s Game

White Sox vs. Royals at Kauffman Stadium, Kansas City (6:10 p.m. CT, CSN) in the middle game of the three-game series. Probable Starters: RHP Jeff Samardzija (8-6, 4.36) for the Sox, RHP Jeremy Guthrie (7-7, 5.65) for KC.

Last Night’s Highlights

Trayce Thompson collected his first two major-league hits, Jose Abreu doubled in a run and Adam LaRoche homered in the Sox’ 3-2 loss to the Royals…Thompson beat out an infield hit in the sixth inning (click on top link and see photo below) for his first and scored on Abreu’s 65th RBI of the season (click on second link), which tied the score at 1-1. Trayce, who replaced Adam Eaton in the fifth after Eaton left the game with a jammed left shoulder while making a fine play in center (he’s listed day-to-day), also knocked out a ground-rule double in the eighth……LaRoche’s solo homer, his 10th, pulled the Sox within a run of the Royals in the ninth (click on bottom link)…John Danks had a quality start, giving up three runs and five hits in six innings, despite absorbing the loss.
