Sale, Sox Gear Up For Halos
Monday, August 10, 2015
White Sox vs. Angels at U.S. Cellular Field (7:10 p.m. CT, CSN) in the opener of a three-game series and six-game homestand that continues with three vs. the Cubs Friday thru Sunday. Probable Starters: LHP Chris Sale (9-7, 3.52) for the Sox, RHP Matt Shoemaker (5-7, 4.01) for LA.
With two outs in the top of the eighth inning, Melky Cabrera‘s single drove in Adam Eaton–who doubled and moved to third on a groundout–tying the game at 4-4 (click on top link below). The tie was short-lived, however, as the Royals scored the game-winner in the bottom of the eighth for a 5-4 win in the series finale…Gordon Beckham singled in a run (click on second link) and Alexei Ramirez followed with two-run single in the three-run third inning (click on third link)…Jose Quintana kept the Sox in the contest after surrendering three runs in the first, giving up just the one tally the rest of the way as he tossed 6.2 innings.
Quote of the Day
After collecting his first two major-league hits on Friday night, Trayce Thompson received numerous congratulatory texts. He said it was the most texts he received since his brother Klay of the Golden State Warriors scored 37 points in one quarter, an NBA record, and finished with 52. Trayce’s reaction:
“It’s just funny that people are now texting me about myself instead of about him.”
By the way, Thompson (pictured below) added hit No. 3 to his collection yesterday in his first big-league start so many more texts are undoubtedly coming his way.
Carson Fulmer, the Sox’ top pick in this year’s June draft, pitched three scoreless innings yesterday in Class A Winston-Salem’s 10-3 victory over Salem. Fulmer gave up a pair of hits, three walks and struck out three. In his last start for the Dash on August 4 he threw as many as three innings for the first time in his brief career, allowing just a run on two hits. He has three strikeouts in each of his first four Carolina League outings.
White Sox vs. Angels at U.S. Cellular Field (7:10 p.m. CT, CSN) in the middle game of the three-game series. Probable Starters: LHP Carlos Rodon (4-4, 5.00) for the Sox, former Sox LHP Hector Santiago (7-5, 2.78) for LA.
Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Sox’ championship season…
In Game 110 on August 7 vs. Seattle at U.S. Cellular Field, the first-place White Sox defeated the Mariners, 3-1, for victory No. 72. Paul Konerko launched a two-run homer, his 27th, and Joe Crede hit a solo shot, his 16th, to pace the offense. Jon Garland earned the win to improve his record to 16-5 and Dustin Hermanson registered his 28th save.

@DJWhiteSox: Going back in time. How about this swing.
(Yes, that’s Darrin Jackson’s former TV partner Hawk Harrelson of the Kansas City A’s Harrelsons).
