Rodon Looks to Even Minny Series, September Call-Ups Arrive
Wednesday, September 2, 2015
White Sox vs. Twins at Target Field, Minneapolis (7:10 p.m. CT, WPWR) in the second game of the three-game series. Probable Starters: LHP Carlos Rodon (6-5, 4.15) for the Sox, LHP Tommy Milone (6-4, 3.86) for Minnesota.
Rodon makes his 23rd appearance and 20th start of the season. He is 2-1 with a 1.61 ERA and 29 strikeouts over his last four starts. He won his last start on August 27 vs. the Mariners, allowing two runs on three hits over six innings.
Last Night’s Highlights
Adam Eaton went 4-5 with two RBI, Avi Garcia smashed his 12th homer, a two-run shot, and Chris Sale struck out 10 in 6.1 innings as the White Sox comeback fell short in our 8-6 loss to the Twins in the series opener…It was the 13th time this year that Chris reached double-digit Ks and the first time that’s happened in baseball since Randy Johnson fanned 10-plus in 13 games in 2004. The Sox ace, who got a no decision last night, now is 31 strikeouts from breaking Hall of Famer Ed Walsh‘s single-season club mark of 269 (1908).
Avi’s homer and Sale’s 10 Ks:
With the rosters able to expand in September, the White Sox recalled the following players: RHP Erik Johnson (pictured above), C Rob Brantly and INF Leury Garcia from Class AAA Charlotte and RHP Frankie Montas from Class AA Birmingham.

Quote of the Day
Robin on the September call-ups:
“Some of them have already been here…and if you have seen them you want to see where they’re at right now. If you haven’t seen them, you want to see them and where they’re at. September is for that. You want some depth, but mostly you want to see these guys up here and playing…(and) there might be (another) wave.”
To that last point, GM Rick Hahn said second baseman Micah Johnson and perhaps another player or two will be up after Charlotte’s season ends. Hahn indicated that he wanted Micah to play a bit more since he was recently activated from the disabled list.
