Quote of the Day
Danks talked about his progress after 2012 shoulder surgery and looked ahead to next season (via Scott Merkin, whitesox.com):
“Really, every year I’ve started to feel a little better. This year took a bigger jump than I had to that point…the ultimate goal was to hopefully get my stuff back, the actual fastball and a little more bite on breaking balls. Then use that with the knowledge I gained from pitching with less stuff. I feel like going into next year and even with the second half this year, that started to emerge a little bit. I think this can only get better.”
Chris Sale had a tough day in the loss to the Twins, but with his three strikeouts he became the first White Sox pitcher since Hall of Famer Ed Walsh in 1912 (254) to reach 250 Ks in a single season…Top pitching prospect Frankie Montas came on in relief of Sale and tossed three innings, allowing a run on four hits with five strikeouts…Jake Petricka, Zach Putnam and Zach Duke each pitched a scoreless inning.
White Sox vs. A’s at U.S. Cellular Field (7:10 p.m. CT, CSN) in the second game of the four-game series. Probable Starters: RHP Jeff Samardzija (9-12, 4.89) for the Sox, RHP Aaron Brooks (1-3, 7.62) for Oakland.
