This Afternoon’s Game
White Sox vs. Tigers at Comerica Park, Detroit (12:08 p.m. CT, CSN) as the Sox look to take three of four in the series that concludes today. Probable Starters: RHP Frankie Montas (0-0, 1.13), making his first big-league start, for the Sox vs. RHP Justin Verlander (3-8, 3.46) for Detroit.
Montas made his major-league debut on September 2 at Minnesota, working a scoreless eighth inning, and tossed an inning of scoreless relief in his last outing on September 20 at Cleveland. He owns a 1.50 ERA through four relief appearances vs. the American League Central, though he will be making his first appearance against the Tigers.
Frankie went 5-5 with a 2.97 ERA, 108 strikeouts and one complete game in 23 starts with Class AA Birmingham. He was a member of the Southern League midseason All-Star team as well as the World Team at the All-Star Futures Game in Cincinnati.

Tyler Saladino‘s one-out triple in the top of the ninth inning broke up a Tiger team no-hitter (click on top link below) and Adam Eaton followed with an RBI single (click on middle link) as the White Sox tied the game at 1-1. Detroit then scored the game-winner in the bottom of the 10th for the Tigers’ 2-1 victory…Jose Quintana had a brilliant outing while recording another no-decision, allowing just the one run in seven innings (click on bottom link). In his last four starts, Q is 2-0 with a 1.00 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 27 innings…Jake Petricka tossed 2.2 perfect frames.
