Today’s Spring Training News

Snapchat was Everywhere

It was Snapchat Day throughout MLB Spring Training yesterday. Adam Eaton and Avi Garcia (shown above) and many of their teammates certainly had a good time. That’s hard-working Sox social media guru Jordan Doyle below “snapchatting” Jose Abreu on his way back to the dugout.

This Afternoon’s Game

White Sox vs. Cubs at Mesa (2:05 p.m. CT, WLS Radio, WGN-TV). Erik Johnson gets the start for the Sox. Jason Benetti, who will be working with Steve Stone, makes his debut in the TV booth.

Yesterday’s Highlights

The White Sox (6-3-1) pounded out four more homers and Carlos Rodon pitched four scoreless innings for the win with three strikeouts in the 8-3 victory over the Padres in Peoria…Leury Garcia (solo shot, his first), Jimmy Rollins (two-run blast, his second) and Abreu (solo, his second) all teed off in a four-run third and Courtney Hawkins went deep with his first HR with nobody on in the fifth…15 different Sox have now totaled 20 homers in Cactus League play…Dioner Navarro drove in a pair with a double in a three-run fourth and the Good Guys collected 16 hits in all. Abreu led the way with three, Rollins, J.B. Shuck and Matt Davidson had two apiece.

Homers aplenty: Garcia, Rollins, Abreu and Hawkins.

Quote of the Day

Rodon, now 2-0 this spring, on the fact he gave up no walks in yesterday’s start:

“It was awesome, it was great. That’s what we’re looking for.”
